August 17th is National Black Cat Apperception Day, not to be confused with National Black Cat Day which is October 27th! However, both have been established for the same reason! To help dispel prejudice and encourage people to give a new home to black cats left behind in the shelter! Let's help raise awareness to hopefully get these sweet kitties some wonderful forever homes!

FVRCP is considered a core vaccine for cats. It protects them against rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia! Kittens should receive three doses of this vaccine by the time they are five months old.
Symptoms for the viruses include a blocked nose, sticky eyes, fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. Cats with a blocked noses tend to stop eating and may need hospitalization due to dehydration.

Rabies is a serious disease that can cost us our furry friends!
This month we are talking about the importance of vaccines in our four-legged family members, today we are focusing on out Kittys of the household. Kittens should receive their first rabies vaccine between 12 and 16 weeks of age, and then a shot booster one year later, and once every year after unless you opt for the three years rabies vaccine that will be given every three years.

symptoms to look out for if you believe your cat was exposed to Rabies are behavioral changes (a nice cat is very mean or a mean cat if very nice), sudden loss of appetite, signs of apprehension or nervousness, and irritability.

Help keep out cozy family members safe and remember to vaccinate !

Sweet Knox and Haven 🖤🤎

Knox (black) and Haven (brown) came in together having very little human interaction. They were both understandably scared when they arrived to the shelter, but they’ve come a long way. They now take walks together on a leash and really shine in the play yards. These two just need a patient human to give them a chance at the life they deserve. 🙏

Please consider Knox and/or Haven!
