GCRR Does such amazing work! Yall help them out and adopt one of their wonderful rescues!

We are implementing an adoption special on all of our geckos in efforts to help find them their forever homes! We have multiple leopard geckos, and two African fat-tailed geckos that have patiently been waiting to be chosen.
We are reducing their adoption fees temporarily to 1️⃣5️⃣ dollars. If you're interested in adding one of these little gems to your family, please submit our online adoption application, and message us a photo of the enclosure the adopted animal would live in. Adoptions take place in Picayune, MS. Thank you!

This is a very sad update for our dear Erwin.

Erwin has crossed the rainbow bridge. We had our follow up with Town and Country Animal Hospital today and a decision was made. After discussing everything with the Dr. we made the choice to have Erwin put to sleep. We knew this was a likely result from the start but it's never the first option. Our goal is to rehab and rehome, but sometimes it just doesn't work that way. Erwin is no longer suffering, he fell asleep in my arms while being pet and talked to, he was never alone. We thank you all for your continued support and love through all of our journeys.

Leave a heart for Erwin in the comments and let him feel your love.

This is not a good video. I know a post just published earlier, that was scheduled from yesterday. This morning has not been kind. Pretty sure we are in the active dying phase. We are going to keep him warm and hopefully he will come around. Tho we are not super optimistic.

We can't save them all, that is a fact, but what we can do is everything in our power to try. Erwin was loved for years, he was surrendered to us in love, and he remained loved in our care. No regrets on a single penny spent to help him recover.

Rescue work is hard. Emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. We pour our hearts into our animals and when they leave they take a portion of our hearts with them. Erwin is still in my arms, he is still being loved on and will feel that love until the last moment.

Thank you all for your support. We couldn't do it without you.

You all remember Erwin, the beardie we just took in, well, things aren't looking good. This is the hard part about running a rescue. Sometimes you receive animals in the worst shape of their life. Sometimes we can turn back the clock on things and sometimes we can't. While we are no quitters and will always advocate and act towards the health and recovery of our animals, we also have to remain realistic. Erwin is not doing well.

We have been admistering his meds exactly as prescribed but have seen no improvement. We fear the worst saddly, but that will not stop us from continuing to try and help him as much as we can. We are starting to see some neuro issues. Twitching, seizing, flipping himself over. It's not looking good.

Erwin has a checkup on Monday. We will keep you all informed going forward. Please keep Erwin in your thoughts.

This is Erwins days for the next few weeks. Pain killers, anti infmatories, specialized foods most he has to have multiple times a day. Let this be a reminder to do your research before you commit to an animal folks. 90% of his issues could have been avoided with proper husbandry. Beardies, while easy to care for yes, have a HUGE demand as far as their set up goes. The UV light isn't an option, the diet isn't an option, the heating isn't an option, the supplements ARE NOT AN OPTION! When you take on an exotic pet u have tasked yourself with replication their natural environment. Please please PLEASE! Do your research before you commit to an animal, you are their whole life and their survival is entirely dependent on you. If you really want a certain animal then get your supplies little by little over time until you have everything you need to keep said animal healthy and well housed all it's life.

Thank you all.

Update on Erwin:

We just got out of Town and Country Animal Hospital, they were amazing as always. They noticed the same things we did, the stiffness in the tail and extremities, discoloration in the mouth and so on. The prognosis is good, but not great. Chances of living are very high, chances of "recovery" are minimal.

Erwin not only has a case of moderate to severe arthritis, he also has a minor case of MBD (Metabolic bone disease). These issues have most certainly played a part in his failing health but it's not so far gone that we can't atleast help him. He also has slight signs of jaundice due to the lack of nutrition, but that can be helped in short order.

Erwin is now and will remain a special needs intake. He will be on medication and will require special care for the rest of his life. We are so grateful to Town and Country for their amazing staff and even more so grateful for their help in our efforts to get our animals back to health.

As you can image the MANY vet visits we have had to have over the past few weeks has drained us. Between Banna, the tortoises, and now Erwin we have drained our reserves. Since we cannot directly solicit yet we will be running T-shirt sales as well as releasing a line of handmade soaps infused with snake skin to help supplement the cost of these vet visits.

Stay tuned for more detail!!!

Well, looks like we have another addition to our rehab program, welcome to the rescue Erwin!

Erwin is a 10 yr old dragon, His owner is unfortunately dealing with health issues and was very upset that his dragon has been loosing weight and not eating.
Erwin is a bit wabbly, on his feet, but not dragging his feet.

He did eat some roaches as well as a nice helping of Nutri-cal with Momma T when she took him in, he also had a good bowel movement when he was in his soak.

Our volunteer Kayden is coming by tomorrow to take a f***l sample to help us determine what he will need when we take him to the vet.
It’s going to take a while to get this guy back up and running, but we have high hopes that he will recover quickly.

Oh we must be making a big special meal for some people right! WRONG 🤣 every bit of this is part of our omnivorius lizard diets. We put it all through a meat grinder to ensure everything is well mixed so our animals get full complete and varied diets without being able to pick through the food for only what they want. Having a balanced diet for not only exotic pets but domestic pets is well is so crucial for their health and longevity. No price is to steep when it comes to our animals care.

Sweet Banna had to have a trip to the vet today. He's got some minor respiratory issue. Good news, it's not in his chest and his heart and lungs are clear so it seems to be just upper respiratory. As for the mark in his nose, well, a few weeks ago he broke out of his enclosure and decided to go on an adventure in the snake house and wound up cutting his nose a bit in his escapades. We have been treating that daily with medicated ointment and we are getting some drops for his nose now. The folks here at Town and Country Animal Hospital have been wonderful and they LOVED Banna. They even had to take a picture with him before we left. We love our sweet boy and will always do our best to keep them happy and healthy no matter the cost. We are able to do all this thanks to you all. So from Banna and all of the HERE Rescue we thank every one of yall!
