With our hands full a lot of the time, the Ellsworth Animal Hospital team will be taking Labor Day, September 4th, off. We will resume normal business hour's on Tuesday the 5th, and we are here till noon Saturday the 2nd. If you have any emergency call the clinic and you will be directed to our emergency line. One cool test we do at the clinic is a corneal stain, which tells us there is a corneal ulcer. A corneal ulcer is a defect on the surface of the cornea. That bright green scratch is the defect. This cute boy was so brave and good for this test. With eye drops its treatable and he is on the mend!

We always like to remind clients that wildlife animals can be dangerous and we should try to protect our pets the best we can. However, dogs will be dogs and these 5 kiddos are no exception. 3 great pyrenese and 2 dachshund where protecting their home and came across a porcupine who was ready to fight back. If this ever happens to one of your dogs please call the clinic so we can remove the quills. Don't worry all the dogs where sedated to ease the discomfort, all quills where removed, and everyone is doing great.

FOUND HOMES!
Keiko has been adopted! Crisco is still needing her furever home!
We have two kittens needing to find their furever homes. First we have Keiko, approximately 12 week old grey female who is litter box trained. Keiko does well with other cats and dogs. Crisco (grey tiger) is also a female who is around 6 weeks old. Crisco was found here in Ellsworth and thought to have suffered from severe burns. She was placed with one of our staff members while she was healing. Crisco has healed for the most part other than a few hair loss patches, mainly on her tail and feet. She does great with other cats and dogs and is learning to use the litter box. HELP!!! We have a missing dog that jumped out of a moving vehicle on I70 heading west past exit 225. Her name is Piper, she is a black shepherd mix around 45 pounds and very scared of people. If you see this girl please call her owner Megan at 720-982-3530.

Here's a friendly reminder with the 4th of July coming not all of our pet friends appreciate the fireworks. If your pet doesn't like the noise here are several tips to keep them safe. Keep them inside, give them background noise to help cancel out the fireworks, and over the counter options like calming collars/thunder shirt are always worth a try. If you need more help please don't hesitate to call the clinic for further assistance. Have a happy 4th!

With the 4th of July approaching, fireworks are a seriously danger to our pets. Please check you fences and leashes to make sure they are secure so pets don't run off. If your animal is to the point where they might need medication to keep them safe during this stressful holiday, please call the clinic. When you need something removed, you want to leave the doctors ASAP! This poor little girl accidentally ate the rubber part of a spatula and had to get it removed from her stomach. She is doing great post surgery and ready to go home!
