For producers who band, this is an interesting development. Personally, since we didn’t creep feed our calves, I didn’t notice any weight gain loss but it would be insightful to read studies with data on this product use.

Peyton is showing his 4-H steer on April 3 at the Eastern Carolina 4-H Livestock Show and Sale. Part of this 4-H project is marketing the beef. He has 2 quarter packages left! 4-H steers, as part of the project, are typically grain fed for at least 120 days. I would encourage you to reach out to him as this show only comes around once a year, a unique opportunity for some great tasting beef!

This program is NOW open to students across the whole state! For $50, your child receives mentorship, support, necessary equipment AND a lamb! Watch the video of a participant and parent and realize the life skills (leadership, responsibility, accountability, hard work…) that the child learns. He said he never thought he could have done this as he lives in the city. Registeation ends in 2 weeks: March 15!!

This program is designed for youth that have an interest in animal agriculture and would like the opportunity to show a lamb. This program is designed for beginners who have not had the opportunity to show animals before and participants will only be allowed to show in this program one year. We hope...

ANOTHER DAM OF DISTINCTION DAUGHTER SELLS! Our #15 cow produced TWO Grand Champion steers at our Eastern Carolina 4-H Livestock Show. Her 2013 Champion steer was AI sired by Rajun Cajun, a Maine Anjou, that has had considerable influence on our herd. This champion had a carcass weight of 852 #. This same dam also produced a 2017 Grand Champion at the same show when AI bred with Unstoppable. His carcass weight was 848 # and had a monthly high Average Daily Gain of 4.2 pounds!

Just like her Dam of Distinction, our #4 cow, Ginger, gives it all to her calf. This is her first white calf. Her last 2 were black hided. She is a half sister to these Grand Champion steers. Come to the auction tomorrow and see what she produces in her #4 bull calf!

SELLING A FULL SIBLING TO THIS 2014 GRAND CHAMPION STEER pictured below: the #1 cow. She consistently produces black hided offspring that are very attractively put together. Her bull calf this year is #21.

A Dam of Distinction of ours, the #21 Sim-Angus cow, produced a Grand Champion steer at our tri-county Eastern Carolina 4-H Livestock Show after being AI bred with "Thriller." This steer's carcass weight was 840 #. Don't miss this opportunity! She sells tomorrow!

Meet Godiva! She's our other GOT TO BE NC tagged animal, halter broke, shown on the circuit by a 4-Her, and calved unassisted a bull calf. Godiva's dam is also in the sale, #5 cow (Tiara) who also calved a bull this past season. Tiara is also halter broke. Our cattle are easy working animals as they are used to human interactions. WE ARE SELLING OUR CATTLE: Complete herd dispersal! Saturday, September 16 2023 10 am at Granville County Livestock Arena in Oxford, NC. THREE Grand Champion steers at the 4-H Eastern Carolina Livestock Show have come from these genetics. There will be 8 bull calves & 4 heifer calves available to pick from along with their mamas. Just in time for show purchase! 5 of our mature cows are halter broke and all 5 were shown on the circuit and the NC State Fair. 2 cows come with registration papers from the American Chianina Association.
