At the vet with Tinkerbell because despite months of thrice daily feedings she still looks like the Co**se Bride.

The good news: she’s put on nearly ten pounds.

The other good news: We’ve got great vets who are helping us get her the rest of the way to healthy, even though she knocked one over as he tried to listen to her heart.

Today's recap!
Lyra and Fancy Nancy adopted!
Zoey went on a sleepover!
Grandma Betsy’s adoption didn't work out, because their other dog was not a fan. No live video because my phone is on the fritz.

We're going through and doing our annual heartworm testing, and Doc, who was high positive when we got him, is now heartworm negative! 🎉🎉 We had some interest in a few other puppies, plus Reba and Muffie, fingers crossed they are next in line!

Pet of the Day: Bandit 🤍

Bandit is a 5-year-old Australian Cattle Dog who has been in rescue far too long, almost three years, simply because first impressions are hard for him. He’s nervous with new people at first, but once he feels safe, he is the sweetest, cuddliest boy. He will gaze into your eyes with the deepest devotion and love. He's a good. boy.

Bandit loves snuggling with his humans, going for walks and runs, playing chase with other dogs, and earning treats. When he wants attention, he politely sits on his hind legs with his paws in the air, never jumping, just being his silly, gentle self.

He is house, kennel, and leash-trained, and does great with a dog and a cat. With patience and kindness, Bandit will be an amazing companion.

Rolling River Rescue is not a shelter.

We have no building.
No paid staff.
No kennels.

Our rescue does not look like a facility with business hours and neat rows of runs.

A foster-based rescue looks like kitchens, spare bedrooms, borrowed crates, midnight vet runs, overdrafted bank accounts, and people who say yes even when it is inconvenient.

People think rescue is about playing with puppies.
It is.
But it is also waiting.
Saying no, and having to live with it.

This work only succeeds because people step in.

Rolling River Rescue is entirely foster-based and donor-funded.

Fosters create space. Space is life.
Donations cover medical care, food, and transport.

Every comment helps this reach the next person who can say yes.

If you can foster, even short-term, comment FOSTER.
If you can donate, even a few dollars, comment DONATE.
If you can share, comment SHARE.

Thank you for being part of our rescue family. We cannot do it without you.

🦁 Imagine a lion-dog who just wants to play. That’s Arabella.

Arabella is an AMAZING 5-year-old Central Asian Shepherd found wandering in Baton Rouge in rough condition. Despite her past, she is joyful, resilient, and has a gentle, affectionate spirit.

She is housetrained, good with other dogs, and will thrive with an experienced adopter familiar with giant guardian breeds. At close to 150 lbs, she is the biggest dog we’ve ever had, basically a playful house-lion who just wants to be part of the family. Some jerk cut off her ears and half of her tail, which is apparently routine for Central Asian Shepherds.

Arabella deserves safety, stability, and a home that understands her. Help us find her the future she deserves. 💙

Ace is a handsome German Shepherd mix with a loyal heart and a deep devotion to his people. He is smart, listens well, and truly wants to please. Once he bonds with you, he is affectionate, cuddly, and known for his big hugs.

Ace needs an adult-only home and would do best as an only pet. Children are not a fit for him. He thrives in a calm, predictable environment. A home with a large yard where he can patrol, then come inside to snuggle, would be ideal.

Ace is a good boy who loves deeply and takes his job seriously. If you are looking for a devoted companion and best friend, Ace may be your match.
