I was speaking to 4th and 5th graders for career day this morning. I got the normal assortment of students asking about the craziest animal I’ve seen, the various antics of their pets, whether I cheer for Carolina or NC State (Go Heels!), etc…

And then one student politely raised her hand and asked, “How often do you use the drug oxytocin?”

🤔🤯🤣

And no, I hadn’t even told them my focus area is reproduction 😂

It's hard to believe that it's only ONE MONTH until I embark on my voyage to Antarctica with Homeward Bound!

Homeward Bound is a global initiative that seeks to equip women in STEMM with a leadership practice that responds to the complexity of our current challenges and prepares them for whatever may emerge in the future.

It was four years ago that I was initially selected as part of Homeward Bound's fifth cohort. A lot has changed in that time - global pandemic, new business, divorce, marriage, new step-daughter, and new baby *WHEW!*

This is an excellent (and terrifying) article about the very real threat of canine brucellosis. This is why I always require testing as part of breeding management!

Key Points:
- Brucellosis is an infectious disease that can be transmitted between ANY TWO DOGS. It's not just a reproductive disease!
- There is NO CURE for brucellosis and the recommendation for dogs who are positive is either 1) humane euthanasia or 2) permanent isolation from all other dogs.
- Brucellosis can be transmitted from dogs to humans 😱

The Montana Veterinary Medical Association recently passed a resolution addressing an increase in brucellosis in Montana’s dogs.

Did you know?? In order for dogs to exist, there has to be dog breeding! 😮

There can be irresponsible dog breeding or responsible dog breeding. My goal is to call out the former and increase the latter!

And then there was one! Echo (formerly Rosie) is enjoying extra time with Momma since her brothers headed off to their new homes last week. She still gets to see them though, because they like to hang out at work!!
