Attention Precious Paws customers. Please help prevent health problems in your pets by keeping up to date with your vet’s recommended vaccines. I have copied and reposted this exchange between myself and a customer (initials E.O.)on Messenger recently, to help illustrate the knee-jerk reactions/blame we sometimes receive as groomers, for things beyond our control or that aren’t our fault. Please make up your own mind:
EO: Had my dog groomed a couple of weeks ago diesel. Charged $10 more because said he was a biter. No one has said that anywhere else he's been. Then he gets kennel cough and cost me $140 at a vet. Never got this either. Needless to say we won't be coming back. $85 dollars ridiculous. Terrible experience
PPAWS: Hi, Elaine, we’re sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your experience here at Precious Paws. But the groomers’ hands are their livelihood, and they deserve extra for handling dogs that bite or are difficult. And we have signage all over our salon explaining that. And your dog can easily get kennel cough anywhere there are other dogs, so we recommend all pet owners have them vaccinated for kennel cough since we cannot prevent an infected dog from entering our facility. And we feel that $75 is more than reasonable base price, considering the quality work that our groomers produce. If you don’t feel they should add such charges for risking their hands, then we will be delighted for you to go elsewhere. Let me know if you would like a copy of our grooming notes to take to your next salon so they know what clip we did to make him look so good. Feel free to post a pic along with your grievances on our page. I’ll happily respond and repost our reply. Good luck to you and Diesel.
EO: He doesn't see other dogs so your place was where he got. Apparently the dogs that come to you aren't vaccinated
PPAWS: It’s pretty sad that you don’t give Diesel the opportunity to socialize with other dogs. Dogs behave much better when they are properly socialized. We have all of our dogs vaccinated for kennel cough because we are responsible pet owners. And if we had Bordatella (kennel cough) in our facility we would have dozens of irate customers calling us weekly demanding payment
NOTE: Thank you for your attention to this matter, and please remember to get your dogs vaccinated before the next time you go to the dog park, veterinarian, doggy daycare, grooming salon, or other areas frequented by other dogs. It’s just a matter of common sense and responsibility to protect your pet’s health. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Steve & Lisa Parrish
