Knocking the rust off today with some huge turns and stops from FS GUNNATRASHYA in the NRHA Derby Prelims!
What happened at the Cactus Reining Classic
After starting the year hot, including winning the $5000 Added Open in FL on โGangusโ and the $5000 Added Open in AZ on โSimbaโ, along with multiple other Top 5 finishes throughout the Aged Events, our week came to an abrupt halt and a devastating end in Scottsdale.
In an unfortunate and completely unpredictable accident, Gangus lost his footing during a rollback while practicing for TRFAM Qualifiers. He fell on Matt, and while weโre beyond grateful this scary incident didnโt end worse, the fall resulted in a broken foot for Matt, and an end to riding for a few weeks. This is truly a devastating time, as Mattโs horses were schooled, ready, and riding incredibly in Scottsdale. Gangus especially has been on a hot streak lately in the show pen, mounting our confidence that Matt was going to qualify for The Run for A Million this year. After the countless hours of studying, practice, preparations, and planning, this devastating feeling is indescribable.
However, we are trying to stay positive and focused on what is ahead. We canโt even begin to put into words how much we appreciate all who have jumped in to help without a second thought, and all those who have reached out offering support and encouragement.
To our loyal clients - thank you for trusting us and sticking by our side as we navigate these challenges. To our competitors - thank you for your compassion and words of encouragement. To our friends and family - thank you for being there and helping us when we need it most, as you always do. We will be back for the summer shows, and will sure be fighting to make up for lost time! Matt is ever so close to that Million Dollar Rider mark, and while this may be a setback, it will only fuel us moving forward. Because after all, WHY NOT US?
