Nothing fancy - Tips to keep your pup cool during summer travel.
Lengthy tips and reviews below….
Ryobi fans are invaluable for summer and if you’re sitting outside this summer they make misting ones that can sit on a home depot bucket!
There is a cool product called a Noggle for getting Air to the backseat for kids. I have one and think it’s great… but it’s $60! And I needed 4! So we came up with insulated dryer vent held by gorilla tape and it works just as well! I’m sure you could get craftier but this is working and this is not my primary transport vehicle we only take the van when hauling the trailer for longer trips. The Honda pilot has A/C in the rear for 3rd row seating (our primary vehicle)
Lastly let’s talk about those beds!
I gotta be honest when I bought these last summer I hated them because my dog hated them - because I apparently didn’t know how to use them. 🤦♀️
I soaked them and put them in her kennel same day soaking wet and she was insistent someone had peed in her kennel and it was wet and gross.
By luck… I tried them again this summer for dock diving. I got them wet the morning of -but planned ahead and had them sitting out. Put them in the car in crates - they were damp but not soaking at that point and the dogs loved them - nice and cool. 4 days later they were still cool to the touch. So it became a must grab for this trip we went on.
So incase you have a princess like I do… let it dry for an hour or so and don’t put in the crate soaking wet.
We’re going on day 6 and the van has baked parked in the sun (without us in it/ without the A/C running) better part of the trip and the mats are STILL cool to the touch. VERY impressed and have fully changed my view of this product.
We drove to Oregon and back in an uninsulated vehicle and with these little additions / adjustments the dogs weren’t even panting driving through Redding when it was 110 out!
