Since our founding, we have helped more than 9,100 dogs on their journeys to their forever homes . Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary, Inc. is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 organization which rescues and heals displaced, abandoned, and homeless Golden Retriever and Golden mixes, regardless of their age or health. We secure safe, loving homes through a comprehensive adoption program, an

d also provide lifetime sanctuary for Goldens that cannot be adopted. Our adoption hours are listed for pre-approved adopters. Please call ahead to schedule an appointment. Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary, Inc. and Whisker & Howl Pet Photography teamed up to showcase Nico, an incredible boy who is available for adoption! He got the VIP (Very Important Pup) treatment and received his own professional photoshoot! We are so excited to reveal his doggy portraits and tell you more about him.

Nico is a 2.5 year old Golden mix with a zest for life and adventure! He is very intelligent and affectionate, and he loves hiking and water sports. He is housebroken, crate-trained, and is eager to continue all the training he's learned in his foster home. This sweet guy will thrive in a home with structure, predictability, and positive reinforcement. Nico has worked very hard and he is ready for home!

ADOPTED-Moose is a 3.5 year old Golden mix. He is a tall 75 pound boy. He is an owner surrender so we know a lot about him. He is housebroken and knows many commands. He lived with toddlers, but he would accidentally knock them down. They had an elderly person move in and decided to give him up. He needs training. They loved him but suggested he find an active family who could spend time with him.

ADOPTEDSweetie (with red collar) and Sawyer (with blue collar) are both 6 months old and came in together. They can be adopted together or separately. Sawyer would be best with a second dog but Sweetie must be with a second dog. They need training

ADOPTED-Flynn is an 8 year old male and he needs a quiet home. He likes to lounge around and is recovering from some medical issues. He is very sweet with his beautiful head. Flynn does fine with polite dogs, but kids would probably be too rowdy.

ADOPTED!-Enzo is a five year old owner surrender. He likes kids but was too much for the two year old. Before the baby he did five mile hikes, swimming and camping. He is good with dogs but not cats. He needs an active family because he doesn’t act at all like a five year old. He is a lot of fun and enjoys his toys.

These are just 100 faces of the 541 dogs that came through our doors this year. As we look back on another year filled with hope, happy endings, and sometimes tears, we are grateful to our rescue, veterinarian, and shelter partners; to the surrendering families who trusted us to care for their dogs when they could not; to the adopters who give them the lives they deserve; to our supporters who sustain our mission; and to the volunteers whose time, toil, talents, and hearts make it possible. Our wish for all in the New Year: Health. Happiness. Safety. Home.

Play Group helps us learn more about the dogs and how the should be matched…not to mention, getting their zoomies out! With a house full, our team got muddy today to run 17 groups and help ready dogs for forever homes. If you’re approved to adopt, give us a call to see who we have added to the Available list. And thanks to Jen, Maryann, Lindsey, and Michelle for taking one for the team to get it done! Baths all around! Dogs and humans!
