Happy National Puppy Day

Our pups have been trained for and performed in AKC Field Trials, AKC Hunting Tests, Agility, Obedience, Conformation, Hunting Dogs, Dock Dogs, Household Pets, Professional Models & last but not least, Service Dogs & Therapy Dogs. Most of our Labrador Retriever Puppies have been placed into Good Gun Dog homes with great families. Our pups secondly have been run in hunting tests (HT) and dock jumping. So far, they have entered just a few FT's etc... This album was created with pictures sent to us by the owners of our puppies. Boundary Waters Labradors was established in 1999 by AL Penke, and his wife Hobby AKC Breeder of Merit Margo E. Penke. (FYI Notation: Oh for goodness sakes....this album is very incomplete...when it comes to puppy testimonies/accolades we have oodles & oodles more than this! Many just entered on our timeline or on our personal fb pages. I encourage folks to help refresh my mind by re-sending those photos & stories, I will try to do better to enter them here! Maybe Marley could help me!)

Sadly, 'we' lost Sadie today per new owners report. Sadie has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Our hearts are sad, yet thankful for all the good memories she brought into our lives, especially the wonderful family who adopted her and cared for her as we aged and retired. Thankful also for Roots and Retrievers who are carrying on the legacy of these fabulous 'Jolor' bloodlines. If you can: say a prayer and/or have a moment of silence on behalf of those grieving the loss of Jolor's Sadie.

A dog friend lost her dog today. His life here ended after a good run of it. Another dog friend posted this beautiful poem for her aching heart. I loved it, as it comforted my own. Choose love, and may your hard times be comforted, by God, as only He can. Remember the Good Memories ~ Margo

Here's a story about a grandma: It's a fun note of history behind the new NFC Winner's pedigree. A story that reflects the power of community behind retriever enthusiasts and their care for marvelous pedigree behind a great breeding program. 2023 NFC FC AFC Freeridin Rikki Tikki Tavi has a maternal grandmother who was owned by Mark Vossbein of Mark V Labs in Aurora, Minnesota. Mark was our pro-trainer of Jolor's Rejuvenator MH "Sparkle". In 2009 my sister from the West Coast ran in the NARC ("Blue"/finalist) in Virginia, MN and Mark V shared his property with us. Long story short, Mark & Missy became friends. Mark had this wonderful yellow lab named "Renny", a Grand Master Hunter, if I remember right. Undoubtedly, Renny was a favorite of MarkV's who had a strong hope of continuing her, yet, she came up once or twice with no pregnancy when bred. This time with new community he bred Renny successfully through my sister's shared expertise. This produced the pup who became the mother of our new National Winner. This tid bit of history holds a time frame from 2009 to 2023 about the good bloodlines on NFC Tivi's maternal side that simply pulsed through the years of responsibility & diligence of owners, breeders, trainers & handlers in the sport of the pure bred AKC Labrador Retriever, the rest of that history lies on BOTH sides of NFC Tivi's pedigree! Congratulations, again, to the new 2023 National Retriever Championship Team Winners & thank you for the Great Memories that Mark Vossbein & Missy Bell have afforded us.
