Our horse health seminars are back!!! We are excited to announce that we will again be hosting health seminars at our clinic! The first talk, What’s New in Wellness, will be held on Thursday, February 29th at 6pm and free dinner will be provided! Did you know?

Although protein is normally listed as a nutrient, horses actually have a requirement for amino acids, the building blocks of protein, rather than for protein itself. Protein is the least efficient energy source for your horse, so high protein does not automatically equal high energy. Carbohydrates, fats, and fiber are more readily digestible energy sources, so chances are a horse with too much energy is being fed more calories than the animal truly needs.

As always, remember that all horses have different nutritional needs based age, stage of development, metabolism and workload. Be sure to work with your veterinarian to determine the correct protein and energy requirements for your equine friend based on your horse’s individual situation!

Please help us welcome Dr. Kelsey Greene to our practice!!! We are excited to have you at BWEH!!

Dr. Greene grew up in Macomb County where she showed her horse in 4-H and Henry Ford II’s equestrian team. She graduated with her bachelors in animal science from the University of Findlay, then attended the University of Arizona for her doctorate degree in veterinary medicine. Her special interests include ophthalmology, neurology, preventative care and emergency medicine.

Aside from veterinary medicine, she enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and all of her pets, hiking, and traveling. Her life goal is to visit and hike every US national park!
