Some neat garden tricks

Always remember to provide tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers with this essential ingredient for a bountiful harvest. Failure to do so can hinder your growth and productivity.
Don't overlook the importance of this component when nourishing your tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. It is essential to ensure prosperous performance.
Plant fertilizer is the key element that you must incorporate into the growing process of your tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers. This nutrient-rich addition is crucial for its development and ultimate performance.
Independently growing the produce we consume is a wise and health-conscious choice. Not only does it alleviate concerns about the origins of our food, but it also generates financial savings. While it is undoubtedly a challenging task, the rewards far outweigh the efforts invested.
Growing fruits and vegetables requires patience and dedication. However, the satisfaction of a successful harvest and the financial savings that come with it make it all worth it. Despite the challenges, many people choose not to do this practice due to space limitations or concerns about achieving comparable quality to store-bought products.
Fortunately, there is a simple method to beat the quality of store-bought fruits and vegetables. It involves paying attention to the nutrients we provide directly to the roots of our plants. Let's explore this secret ingredient further.
To guarantee the health and vitality of tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers, it is essential to provide them with adequate care. While watering is crucial, it alone is not sufficient for optimal growth. Plants, like humans, need vitamins and minerals for strong health and productivity. Therefore, it is vital to nourish the roots with these essential nutrients.
By enriching the soil with a simple mixture of milk, baking soda and water, we can significantly improve the growth and resistance of our plants. Milk provides essential nutrients such as protein, calcium, magnesium and potassium, while baking soda helps prevent diseases and fungal attacks. This simple mixture increases the immunity of plants and strengthens their root system.
Administration of this mixture, approximately 5 milliliters per plant, every two to three weeks, guarantees optimal growth and resistance to diseases. This method is widely preferred among producers due to its effectiveness.

Lunar cycles and their influence on plant growth
Did you know that the cycles of the moon can influence the development of plants?
Popular wisdom and traditional agriculture indicate that lunar phases affect plant sap, and this can help us optimize planting and transplanting.
Full Moon: The sap is concentrated at the top of the plant. It is a good time to transplant and promote root growth.
Waning: The sap begins to descend, ideal for planting root crops, such as carrots.
New Moon: The sap is concentrated in the root, favoring balanced growth between foliage and root, ideal for the general development of the plant.
Rising: The sap begins to rise, perfect for planting stem and leaf crops, such as chili peppers.

Our Story

New Choices Farms started with the idea of helping a single homeless ministry to feed over 100 people. The concept has now grown to provide Aquaponically grown food for sale to support and sustain the farm. The results are an expansion to provide quality food grown as nature intended.

We have spent the first couple of years working at putting together our Aquaponic greenhouse and to learn to maximize the production there. It is paying off this next year with much increased production, and even with the possiblility of the beggining of selling our beautiful fish.

In 2021 we continue to improve our soil system and expanding to become Certified organic. Watch our page as we document along the way our changes and challenges. Being close to our customers has made the journey all that more enjoyable through all the hard work.
