Some neat garden tricks

Always remember to provide tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers with this essential ingredient for a bountiful harvest. Failure to do so can hinder your growth and productivity.
Don't overlook the importance of this component when nourishing your tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. It is essential to ensure prosperous performance.
Plant fertilizer is the key element that you must incorporate into the growing process of your tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers. This nutrient-rich addition is crucial for its development and ultimate performance.
Independently growing the produce we consume is a wise and health-conscious choice. Not only does it alleviate concerns about the origins of our food, but it also generates financial savings. While it is undoubtedly a challenging task, the rewards far outweigh the efforts invested.
Growing fruits and vegetables requires patience and dedication. However, the satisfaction of a successful harvest and the financial savings that come with it make it all worth it. Despite the challenges, many people choose not to do this practice due to space limitations or concerns about achieving comparable quality to store-bought products.
Fortunately, there is a simple method to beat the quality of store-bought fruits and vegetables. It involves paying attention to the nutrients we provide directly to the roots of our plants. Let's explore this secret ingredient further.
To guarantee the health and vitality of tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers, it is essential to provide them with adequate care. While watering is crucial, it alone is not sufficient for optimal growth. Plants, like humans, need vitamins and minerals for strong health and productivity. Therefore, it is vital to nourish the roots with these essential nutrients.
By enriching the soil with a simple mixture of milk, baking soda and water, we can significantly improve the growth and resistance of our plants. Milk provides essential nutrients such as protein, calcium, magnesium and potassium, while baking soda helps prevent diseases and fungal attacks. This simple mixture increases the immunity of plants and strengthens their root system.
Administration of this mixture, approximately 5 milliliters per plant, every two to three weeks, guarantees optimal growth and resistance to diseases. This method is widely preferred among producers due to its effectiveness.

Lunar cycles and their influence on plant growth
Did you know that the cycles of the moon can influence the development of plants?
Popular wisdom and traditional agriculture indicate that lunar phases affect plant sap, and this can help us optimize planting and transplanting.
Full Moon: The sap is concentrated at the top of the plant. It is a good time to transplant and promote root growth.
Waning: The sap begins to descend, ideal for planting root crops, such as carrots.
New Moon: The sap is concentrated in the root, favoring balanced growth between foliage and root, ideal for the general development of the plant.
Rising: The sap begins to rise, perfect for planting stem and leaf crops, such as chili peppers.

Throwing away coffee grounds is the stupidest thing you can do. It is an invaluable help at home and in the garden,

Throwing away coffee grounds is a mistake, as they have multiple uses both at home and in the garden.
Coffee grounds, rich in potassium, act as a natural fertilizer, improve plant resistance and are excellent for compost.
Additionally, coffee grounds attract earthworms, benefit the soil, and repel pests such as slugs and moles.
At home, coffee grounds absorb odors and can be used to freshen the refrigerator and other areas, mixed with essential oils for a pleasant aroma.
They also serve to cover scratches on furniture, darken hair naturally, soften hands, and maintain the color of dark clothes in the washing machine.
One-Line Summary: Coffee grounds are a valuable resource in the home and garden, offering benefits as a natural fertilizer, pest repellent, and deodorizer.

I know it has been almost two months since I last posted and just realized recently that I have worried some of you about how April and I are doing. I forget in the business of life how not everyone is around us each day or week (at church) that knows how things are. For that I apologize and thanks for the loving concerns in the messages you have sent to check up on us.

It was a year in September since my last cancer radiation treatment. I have had 3 separate scans since then and I am (praise God!) cancer free. Currently there are some challenges to be healed from but more on that as time allows.

The good news is how busy we have been and we only have one more week at market. I have been able to help this year and my energy levels are increasing. In fact after market I suspect they will be much better as that is still hard work for both of us. But to give you an idea it has been a good market season and to touch base and minister to many good old and new friends.

So please stay turned. I have almost got the first draft of two books done. One is a Christian Sci-fi that is actually is shaping up quite nicely and the other is one I have been working on for years that is non-fiction called "The Prompting". I have a wonderful retired English teacher to be my editor so just maybe they will be worth a read.

So again my apologies if I have you concerned. We are doing well and I am blessed beyond my worth to have such good friends and loving family around me. More to come as I get back to the habit of being on social media each day.

Our Story

New Choices Farms started with the idea of helping a single homeless ministry to feed over 100 people. The concept has now grown to provide Aquaponically grown food for sale to support and sustain the farm. The results are an expansion to provide quality food grown as nature intended.

We have spent the first couple of years working at putting together our Aquaponic greenhouse and to learn to maximize the production there. It is paying off this next year with much increased production, and even with the possiblility of the beggining of selling our beautiful fish.

In 2021 we continue to improve our soil system and expanding to become Certified organic. Watch our page as we document along the way our changes and challenges. Being close to our customers has made the journey all that more enjoyable through all the hard work.
