Well the pawlidays are officially behind us and we are ready to hit the ground running in the new year!! I think our holiday card (dogs of pps and ) deserves a permanent spot on the feed because it is absolutely adorable! Shoutout to our girl is so talented!!!

Goals for the New Year include:
1. Offering more nutrition consults at the studio
2. Get more pets on fresh food diets
3. Continue furthering my education w nutrition
4. Step up our frozen shipping game to get products to areas of the county where they don’t have access to great frozen pet food
5. Pet more dogs

More goals to come but this is just a good start!

Goodnight store ❤️

It’s already been a really busy jam packed holiday season for us at PPS. Personally, I tend to get a little overwhelmed during the holidays because I feel this immense pressure to make them “special” for myself and everyone else around me. But then I realized everything is ALREADY special and magical and that the holidays should just be a reminder to be grateful for all that you have!

After a long day, I like to take a moment to stand outside the studio while I am closing up, take a deep breath, and look at it from the outside in. I feel deep gratitude for this lil store and all the people that shop with us. It truly brings me a joy I have never had before!

Thanks for all who make my staff and I feel special every single day, not just during the holidays!

We will be announcing our holiday hours tomorrow so make sure to keep an eye out for our closures during the holidays. Don’t be like me and wait til the last second to stock up on food. 🤣 I promise you, I’ll be the girl that’s down to scraps on Christmas Eve even though I’m surrounded by pet food! 😆

Yes! 5 dollars! And that’s for the BEST of the BEST…not just your average factory farmed BS like “farmers dog”. Which, by the way, is basically the equivalent of kibble with water on it.
Farmers Dog doesn’t have sourcing standards. Sure they are “human grade” but so is a HOTDOG! Human grade means absolutely nothing TBH. What really MEANS something for me and makes a difference for your dogs health is finding a company that CARES about the animals that your pet is consuming. Look for companies that support things like this:

-Certified Humane: There should be no reason to treat the animals we eat like crap, but it happens more often than not. Just google “CAFO’ and you’ll never eat an animal from a factory farm ever again.

-GAP rated: “GAP” stands for Global Animal Partnership for animal welfare. It’s a scale from 1-5 which tells you a little about how the animal was raised. Gap 1: no cages, crates, or overcrowding all the way up to Gap 5: which is animal centered and pasture raised.

-Regeneratively Farmed: Which is better for the animal and for the environment. Animals are exposed to less chemicals and eat a biologically appropriate diet. They produce healthier meat with a better omega balance that is extremely nutritious for pets and people!

Let’s normalize the spend on fresh food for pets. Kibble isn’t affordable, kibble is CHEAP and it’s filled with garbage by product and carbohydrates, even the “premium” ones. If you haven’t been paying attention to what’s happening with kellogs, you absolutely should. Our food in America is less healthy than foods in many other countries. If they can get away with putting poison in human food, just imagine what’s winding up in your pets food.

Overwhelmed with where to start? Shop the perimeter of the grocery store for yourself and choose organic when possible. Ditch the kibble for your pets and ask your pet food companies where in the world they get their meat from. Or just come chat with me because I’ve already put them all through the ringer! ;)

Meet Ranger! (The larger wired haired terrier)

He is such a sweet boy and looking for his forever home !

He comes in often w his foster mommy and I just can’t help to love him, bc he’s so stinkin cute and lovey!

The holidays are approaching and the shelters are at max capacity. SD humane has been at lazy acres everyday and I spoke w a representative who said they are at 167% capacity. There are literally PUPPIES and amazing young dogs who would make somebody truly happy!!! Please consider adopting!

Side note: I have done over 40 nutrition consult calls in the past couple weeks. There are lots of purebred dogs that have loads of issues (digestive, skin, cancer etc) I’ve noticed that the “mutts” and shelter mixes seem to be really hardy, most likely due to hybrid vigor and mixed genes. This makes for a low maintenance, iron gut, stress free companion. Another advantage of shelter babies 🥰

I’m not against well bred dogs! But, there are far too many helpless and homeless babies who need our help like this cutie Ranger!

Shoutout to Nextdoor bae on co-hosting an amazing Halloween Pawty!

My life has been made exponentially better having their amazing grooming shop next door. People often ask if we are the same business, because we have such great synergy and similar branding. We are not under shared ownership but we do share the same community, values and integrity. And for that, I am very grateful!

The truth is that for both of us, this is more than just a business to serve pets and their people. We are like a little happy family and the Halloween party was such a reflection of that!

If you don’t know Lindsey and her staff, and you have a dog that needs groomed, you absolutely should! She practices gentle and thoughtful grooming, as to not stress your pets like traditional “turn and burn” grooming salons. If I had dogs that needed grooming, this would be my spot! The patience and care that is given to each individual dog is above and beyond!

Hope everyone had a great Halloween 🎃 from a retail perspective, we have no choice but to immediately embrace Santa Paws szn! 🎅 🐾

Bring on the candy canes and scented pinecones! Santa is comin to townnnnnnn!
