We are excited to share that Dr. Wilson is pursuing her goal of becoming board certified in exotic animal medicine. While we will miss her, we are proud of her dedication and wish her all the best in this next chapter. In the meantime, we are actively searching for a new exotic veterinarian to continue providing excellent care to our patients. Good luck, Dr. Wilson—we’re cheering you on!
Her last day will be November 2nd please call for an appointment if you need anything before she goes. 🧡💙💚💜🐾

Leptospirosis is on the rise in San Diego.

Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection that poses a significant risk to dogs and people, especially in areas like San Diego, where the climate and urban environment can foster the spread of the bacteria. Dogs can contract leptospirosis through contact with contaminated water, soil, or urine from infected wildlife, such as rodents or infected dogs. Symptoms include fever, vomiting, muscle pain, and in severe cases, kidney or liver failure. Vaccination and regular veterinary check-ups are essential to protect dogs from this potentially life-threatening disease.

Here is a note from him & his foster mom 💙

I’m Bowie (like David Bowie!), and I’m hoping to find my forever person to love me and enjoy life with! I just turned 1, and I’m 48 lbs and adorable :)

I was rescued from Downey Shelter right before Christmas, hours before they were going to euthanize me. Now, my foster mom is helping me find my forever home! My foster family has a toddler that I adore, so I would do great in a home with kids! I love playing fetch with toys! I am a snuggle bug and love to give kisses and cuddle. I would do best in a home with another dog who is looking for a buddy to play with, but I would be okay as a solo dog too!

I am working on a few things daily, with my new trainer! I am scared of large trucks due to my life before the shelter, so I am sometimes fearful on walks by streets with car traffic, but I am improving every day on this! I can now walk a longer distance and am able to move past my fears and enjoy myself :)

My trainer says I am showing a lot of progress, and I am a quick learner! I am working with her on my leash reactivity too. I can be reactive on a leash when I see other dogs, as I want to play, and I get really excited since I’m a pup still. My trainer says I will continue to get better at this and overcome it with training. I do love playing and interacting with other dogs and do great at the dog park with dogs of all sizes! I have lived with a large pitbull and got along really well with him too!

I would love to find a home with a fully fenced yard, so I can enjoy running around in a backyard to burn energy and enjoy the sun! I am up to date on my vaccines and potty trained! My foster mom is getting me neutered soon too, as I just turned 1!

Baby rabbits found alone are usually not orphans, they leave the nest at 3 weeks old. Their moms feeds them twice a day.

We have someone near and dear to our hearts that is in need of a helping hand. Melinda one of our RVTs' partner was severely attacked by a dog. This traumatic experience lead her to have emergency surgery, the need for on going care, the possibility for an additional surgery(s) and unable to work. The incident has created a physical, emotional and financial hardship. We are asking if you can please donate or share to help ease the difficult road ahead for Megan and Melinda.
