Here at Doggywood we recognize how important pets are to people. We believe in the Human/animal bond and it’s importance in our lives. In this crazy, stressful world we get a lot of unconditional love from our non human family. However, there are times when they just drive us crazy and we are not sure what to do to provide the calmness we desire in our lives.

Los Angeles—and the world—lost the beloved mountain lion P-22 on December 17. We will all be grappling with the loss for some time, trying to make sense of a Los Angeles without this magnificent wild creature. Let’s come together as a community to celebrate his remarkable life. Joining us will be special guests speaking about their connections to P-22—and how he also connected us all. Musical performances, dancing, food, and so much more.

This is a privately sponsored event and a place where we come together respectfully to collectively celebrate and grieve P-22. Conduct that is inappropriate or disrupts the peace and good order of events or which may adversely affect the well-being or safety of others will be immediately addressed. Guests who violate the code of conduct will be subject to removal.

Please read code of conduct for the Greek Theatre as well as the list of items allowed inside the venue at https://www.lagreektheatre.com/connect/code-of-conduct-a-z-guide

Do you sleep with your dog? It’s good for you!

Watching dogs sleep —limbs akimbo, eyebrows twitching, paws paddling in a dreamland chase—is one of the joys of living with them. Another is the coziness of sharing our beds with them. Whether for emotional comfort, warmth (you’ve heard the expression “three-dog night,” right?) or because ...

When pets need to be separated from owners, consider how to include items familiar to the pet, such as a toy or towel with the owner's scent, in the experience.

Exerting "dominance" over your dog is the wrong way to build a good relationship. We debunk the alpha dog theory and show how to build a good relationship.

Lots of times, our dog’s messages get lost in translation. Because we don’t speak the same language, we need to become close observers of our dogs. By learning what they’re trying to communicate we can improve our relationships immensely.

Are any of these “translations” new to you?

Our Story

As a former animal trainer for the San Diego Zoo, Marilisa knows that dogs are dogs and we need to teach them fit into our world. We work to build trust between owner and dog and make sure that you get the most out of your time together. Through positive science-and-research-based training, we teach you to cue your dog with reward-based systems. Dogs of any age may need guidance, and Doggywood is here to make both of your lives happier and easier.
