July 31st, National Mutt Day exists to embrace, save, and celebrate mixed breed dogs. The vast majority of dogs who are abandoned to shelters or euthanized are mixed breeds.

An estimated 80% of dogs in shelters on any given day are mixed breed dogs. Our last dog, Slugger was one of the best Mutts ever. We rescued him from Rancho Coastal Humane Society in 2014 and had the best 10 years of his life with us before he succumbed to cancer.

People sometimes ask how I got started in this fun line of work. I started pet sitting in my neighborhood on the side after I graduated college (along with 3 other jobs). In 1996, I made it official and started my first pet sitting business in CT. After being laid off from my F/T job a year or so later, I jumped feet first into a career that would change the trajectory of my life. I never looked back! So happy I kept doing what I loved, and now I'm happy to employ a team to help us all do the work we love!
