Pet parents often ask, "What happens during my pet’s examination at UrgentVet?" Great question!
A veterinarian physical exam is a complete checkup to make sure your pet is in tip-top shape! The vet carefully examines key areas, like your pet's eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and teeth, looking for any signs of infection or illness. They’ll listen to the heart and lungs, check the skin and coat for parasites or any unusual changes, and gently feel the abdomen to make sure everything’s in order internally. The vet also checks joints and muscles to identify any pain or stiffness. Finally, if needed, a neurological exam is conducted for pets showing any signs of neurological conditions. This thorough approach helps catch any health issues early, keeping your pet happy and healthy for the long run.
If your pet isn't feeling well and it shouldn’t wait, come see us. A licensed veterinarian and care team are standing by to help -- weekdays 3PM to 11PM and weekends 10AM to 8PM.

Pet Tip Friday!

Playing with your dog is always fun, but it can also be a great way to prepare them for future vet visits! While you’re petting and playing, take a moment to gently touch their paws, ears, and mouth. This helps desensitize them to these areas being handled, making nail trims and check-ups much easier down the road. By getting your pup used to this kind of touch, you’re helping reduce their stress during exams and making it easier for the vet to spot anything unusual. It’s a win-win for you, your dog, and your vet! 🐾

What is UrgentVet? Think of us like urgent care for pets. 🐾

In human healthcare, you see your regular doctor for wellness visits and planned procedures, and you go to the ER when it’s life-threatening. For everything in between, you visit urgent care.

The same applies to veterinary care! Pets visit their regular vet for checkups and vaccinations, and the emergency vet for serious, life-threatening issues. We’re here for everything in between—like cuts, bites, itching, diarrhea, vomiting, limping, scooting, and more.

Save your spot online or just walk in. We’re open weekdays 3 PM to 11 PM and weekends 10 AM to 8 PM.

08/17/2024

With the heat still in full swing, remember that our furry friends feel it too! Walking your dog in hot weather can lead to heatstroke and other injuries. Here's why: Concrete and asphalt retain heat, making it much hotter for your pet, and these surfaces can burn their paw pads. When it’s above 80-85 degrees, it’s best to walk your dog in the early morning or at dusk. If that’s not possible, keep walks short and stay on the grass. Always provide plenty of water and watch for signs of heatstroke, such as excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, and confusion. If you notice any of these, bring your pet to us right away.
