Happy Thanksgiving!
Here are some tips to keep your dogs safe:
1) Until ALL your guests arrive, keep your dog on leash. Your dog will have plenty of opportunities to escape out your door while guests are walking in; so be safe and have your dog tethered.
2) If food is out, the dog is away! Keep your dog away from any areas where food is out. This includes meal prep, meal time, and clean up. Dogs are highly opportunistic, so they will go for food that is left unattended.
3) Don’t ignore your dog’s needs. Today may be busy with cleaning the house, preparing food, and entertaining guests. But your dog will still need exercising, potty breaks, and attention.
4) Only feed your dog safe foods! Bones, gravy, casseroles, desserts, chocolate, etc are all foods your dog cannot have. They can eat (in small amounts) turkey meat (not the bones or skin), sweet potato (no marshmallows), plain green beans, peas, carrots, celery, apples, and canned pumpkin. But a word of caution: don’t over do it with the extra treats today. Your dog will be excited about the festivities and eating different/special foods can upset their stomach
5) Give your dog timeouts if they need it. Having a house full of guests can be overstimulating for dogs, so let your dog have a break by letting them rest in a quiet room or their crate if they need it
Have a happy and safe holiday everyone!

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting this cute guy today. His name is Timber, and he’s a 5 month old Corso mix. He’s available through Cooper’s Safe Place Rescue. He’s crate trained, good with other dogs, good with cats, very friendly with people, and is working a bit on letting his foster know when he needs to go out. He enjoys naps, sun bathing, eating all the treats, and snoring 🤣 He’s playful, so he will want to play with you and any pets you may have. He is friendly with children but may be too big for very young children. Overall, he’s a delight and is ready for his forever home ❤️

Lark is a young female mix that is looking for a home! She is good with other dogs, cats, and kids and is adoptable through Cooper’s Safe Place Animal Rescue. I had the pleasure of meeting her last week and she is a delight. She’s not hyper like some puppies can be, she likes her couch time, and she enjoys being outside and hanging out. She will still need work on her basic obedience, but she seems to be a quick learner. Reach out to the rescue if you are interested!
