We will be at the Suncoast Humane Society Venice Thrift Store this Saturday, January 17th from 11am–1pm, giving away free dog food and cat food to help support families and the pets they already love. Just one more way we’re here for our community and their pets. Special thanks to Hill’s Pet Nutrition for making this possible with their generous donation.

Suncoast Humane Society is seeking a Veterinary Clinic Scheduler to join our team. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with benefits.

About the Role
👉 The Veterinary Clinic Scheduler is a key point of contact for our clinic. This role supports our veterinary team by coordinating appointments, communicating with clients, and keeping daily schedules running smoothly. If you’re organized, calm under pressure, and great with people, you’ll do well here.

What We’re Looking For
✅ Excellent customer service skills with a compassionate, professional approach

✅ Strong multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment

✅ Highly organized with strong attention to detail

✅ Comfortable communicating by phone, email, and in person

✅ Able to work collaboratively with clinic staff and other departments

Schedule & Compensation
🐾 Full-time, 40 hours per week

🚨 Rio update! 🚨

Rio has been moved into our lobby in a larger, double-decker cage where he can see what’s going on, enjoy some extra interaction, and watch the world go by from the window.

He is still looking for his forever home.

Rio can live a full, normal life with calicivirus and would do well in a home with dogs or fully vaccinated cats. Stress can cause occasional flare-ups, but in a stable, loving home, those are typically rare.

Come meet Rio and see for yourself what a wonderful cat he is.

🐾Meet Sage & Jerry — Our Wobbly Wonders! 🐾
🎉4 months old | Extra cute | Slightly tipsy (but we promise they haven’t been drinking) 🎉
Sage and Jerry have something called WOBBLY KITTEN SYNDROME (official name: cerebellar hypoplasia). In simple terms, the part of their brain that controls balance didn’t fully develop — so they wobble, toddle, and occasionally flop over like tiny kittens on a boat. 🛥 🐱
What this does NOT mean:
❌ They are NOT in pain
❌ It is NOT contagious
❌ It will NOT get worse

What it DOES mean:
✅ They are happy, playful, affectionate kittens
✅ They love toys, snacks, naps, and mischief
✅ They can live long, full, normal lives
✅ They provide nonstop laughter and joy

Sage and Jerry don’t know they’re “different.” They just know they like chasing toys (sometimes sideways), snuggling hard, and being loved. Their wobble is part of their charm — and once you see it, you’ll never forget them.

They don’t need a “special” home — just a loving, understanding one with a safe indoor setup and humans who can appreciate that a little wobble doesn’t take away from a whole lot of heart. 💖

If you’ve got room in your home (and maybe a few rugs for traction 😉), Sage and Jerry are ready to wobble their way straight into your life.

Thinking about a program your kids will actually talk about after?

Here’s just a few things they’ll experience at our Paws for Play Kid’s Day Camp:

They’ll learn about different types of creatures and animals, create adoption posters that help real shelter pets, and get to explore behind the scenes at Suncoast Humane Society.

They’ll meet and feed our capybaras, make enrichment treats for dogs, read stories to help pups relax, spoil the cats with special treats, and wrap it all up with puppy playtime.

More than anything, they’ll build empathy, confidence, and an understanding of how kindness makes a difference. It’s a fun day of learning for children in grades 1-5.

Our next Paws for Play Day Camp is February 16th from 9am-3pm. They fill up quickly so sign up soon!
