Female 6 joins the lineup of pups still available. These dogs come from STRONG tracking lines and their parents are still active tracking dogs.

WATTS KODIAK BEAR and his handler/owner Kelly Ball have made a name for themselves chasing those swamp donkeys in Louisiana while DEVALLS JOLENE and her handler/owner Chuck Darby give free tailgate rides all across North Mississippi.

If you don't have experience with Catahoulas, please take time to do your research before making this 10-14 year commitment. Catahoulas are high energy working dogs that require daily exercise that some may find too demanding. While the demands of owning a Catahoula are great, the reward is even greater. Catahoulas are known to be protective, loyal and smart.

The following pups will be ready to go July 4th. We are transport friendly, located in NW Mississippi. All pups are UTD on shots/worming and have been fully socialized with both dogs and people!

Male 1 is a dark brown fella with an interesting mark around 3/4 of his neck that is white. He's got energy and a spitfire personality with the intelligence to back it up.

Female 7 is our litter runt -- she is going to be a sweet heart, but we're betting she's a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Female 1 is light silver and the largest female of the litter. She is built like her mom and is going to be one to keep your eye on.

Female 3 is a red leopard with a playful, laid back personality and absolutely beautiful eyes with a nose that is already seeking out her trophy. We see her winding our dinner plates just about every evening!

Female 4 is silver/gunmetal grey and has a big, strong attitude. She is one from our entire litter of 13 that takes no crap from any of her siblings.

Female 8 is a solid dark brown with a very faint white spot on her chest. Feisty and full of energy, this agile girl is a big dog in a small package.

We're almost through our list and with just a couple left to make their selection, we decided we'd post the selection photos so anyone not on the list can be ready to make their selection.

This is Darby Catahoulas Litter 2 featuring Devall Catahoulas DEVALLS JOLENE, owned by Chuck Darby and Watts Catahoulas WATTS KODIAK BEAR, owned by Kelly Ball.

This litter, like the first, is going to be a showstopper. Both dogs are PROVEN tracking dogs and come from strong tracking and working lines. Please research the breed before adding a Catahoula to your home.

These pups are located in NW Mississippi, 69 miles south of Memphis International Airport and 151 miles north of Jackson International Airport.

We are transport friendly and offer a range of options to ensure a seamless transition from our home to yours.

That's a WRAP!

Jolene finished up about 45 minutes ago. After giving her some time to check each and every one and get them acquainted with the dining room, we have our final count.

8 Females
5 Males

Ole Bear really came in hot with this round of pups and gave us a nice selection of absolutely breathtaking solids -- LOTS of silver in this litter as well, so you know Jolene did her part.

There is one little really light silver boy with slightly darker silver leopard markings that is going to be a struggle to let go of. He was the first born and he is a CHONK.

I want to add, as mean as Jolene is, she has not tried to eat any of the babies. In fact, she has been such a sweet momma and is tending to their needs very well.

I know. I'm as shocked as you are 🤣🤣😂😂

All of these pups will be heading to their new homes on July 19th-ish. Those on the list should get some photos soon 🥰😍

This whelping box is sort of funny -- I don't think they're supposed to be climbing out of it on their own at 1-2 hours old, but what in the heck do I know!?

There is one I am going to have a super hard time letting go of -- he is so handsome.

We have the absolute best vet team following us for Jolene's pregnancy and we're so grateful for their support!

This afternoon, the vet and his tech looked, counted and decided that the number was between 10-12. We knew she was carrying a heavy load, because it's starting to really show in her sleeping and eating patterns.

Just to make sure (and I'm sure to settle any side bets) we're going to go back early next week and confirm!

Today is the day! We're headed to the vet this afternoon to see if we can get an estimate on the number of tracking machines she's carrying.

So far, Jolene has had a great pregnancy and we're really excited to meet the little ones and find out where they'll be going!

These pups are spoken for -- but we've got plenty of room on our list for Litter 3, which may come as soon as late summer/early fall 2023.

Jolene is moving right along in her pregnancy. She had a visit with the vet and he was pretty surprised at the number of pups he was seeing.

We've had a couple of questions, so we wanted to be totally transparent here:

We only breed when we know there is a desire for puppies from one of our dogs that is ready for breeding. We maintain a list of potential homes and make contact with those on the list when we have a litter, by sharing pictures and gender information. Once the puppies get to about 5 weeks of age, we start the selection process and at any time you want to pass, we can move down our list of potential homes.

Getting on the list doesn't cost you anything.
Passing doesn't boot you off the list.

As long as there is a desire for pups from our girls, we will continue to match them to strong males to better the breed.

Having said all of that -- we may only have one litter this year, due to age and timing, but if you're looking for undeniable drive and a desire to please, keep an eye out for what we decide to do with Molly Anne. She is sweet as honey, with a bite like whisky.

Jolene met up with Watt’s Kodiak Bear while visiting Devall Catahoulas and checking out their new facility back in March. We worked hard to find a great match for her and we're really happy about this pairing between Watt’s Kodiak Bear and Devalls Jolene.

This time last year, we were preparing for our first litter here at Darby Catahoulas. Hunt Boss' Piper Louise and Seal's Axel came together and gave us this phenomenal litter of tracking powerhouses that were real easy on the eyes.

We have had the pleasure of watching many of these pups grow up in pictures -- but Tucker holds a special place in our hearts.

He's about as handsome as you can get while still being a deer tracking machine!

We've got high hopes for our 1st litter for 2023 -- Devall Catahoulas Jolene and Watts' Kodiak Bear. We don't breed unless we have homes on our list waiting for a pup. If you'd like to be added to our list, let us know!

Hey, y'all!

We've got a super exciting year planned. For our first year, we crossed Piper with Axel, from Devall Catahoulas and just as we expected, that cross was fire.

For our Sophomore year we're hoping for a similar outcome! We hope to breed Devalls Jolene with Prospect Catahoula Farms Boerne (Spencer & Lyndsi Davis). Both Boerne and Jolene are proven deer tracking dogs here in Mississippi.

We are considering a second litter with our girl Molly Anne -- but a lot of that will depend on timing. She is over the age required by the NALC, but still a little younger than we'd like.

All of our dogs are NALC registered and vetted. We work hard to make sure that the pups born here are heavily socialized (that's really important), vetted and up-to-date on all shots/worming medications.

Catahoulas are working dogs with high drive and require a home that can meet those needs.

The tracking season is just getting started and these pups, from (Hunt Boss) Piper Louise and (Devall Catahoulas) Axel are burning it down.

You might remember Reba's video from August, where her handler was laying down mock tracks. Deer season has opened and she's graduated to field training, where she is taking the skills she learned over the summer and putting them to work on live tracks here in Mississippi. At six months old, she's got strong instincts, drive and most importantly a genuine desire to do the absolute best job she can.

Tipsy is chasing whitetail deer southeast of Atlanta and she has got quite the following! Her handler does a lot of urban tracking, due to their location, so her attention and focus has to be SPOT ON and she takes it very seriously. She's been working with her partner dog, Shine, to learn the ropes and they are making one hell of a team! We've been watching her and her partner dog stack them up for her handler since the Georgia season opened.

We sent another pup to Georgia as well. Tucker spends most of his time on the coast -- but when his handlers "Rutcation" starts, they load up and head to the Midwest, where his handler both hunts and tracks. This is the first deer season for Tucker and his partner dog, Sarabelle, so they're spending the first part of their handlers Rutcation in Louisiana, attending school :)

We are incredibly proud of the pups that we've gotten updates on. Chuck and I worked hard to find the perfect male for our first litter and we're working just as hard on a possible next litter, in late spring.

Once we told Goose he was going to Florida, he hasn’t stopped practicing his sunbathing skills.

You see that puddle of skin just barely visible below him? That’s a pretty good indication that he’s gonna be a big big boy!

He’s 7 weeks old today and should be headed towards the Sunshine State next Sunday.

Man, it sure is hot up here in northwest Mississippi. The pups are enjoying a little AC, courtesy of our very 'Redneck Engineered' inside pen.

If you'd have told me 6 weeks ago that I'd be using my prized Pony Jorgensen clamps to cobble together a puppy-proof enclosure that would double as a teething puppies chew toy -- I'd have said you were crazy.

They're just clamps (😢) and we can replace them (😁). I haven't had a chance to do a single bit of woodwork these last few weeks. Raising up these babies has been a lot of hard work and while we're sad to see them head off on their new adventures, we're sure looking forward to a little downtime to recharge and maybe get back to work on some of these projects!

We run a tight ship here at the house, but Jolene has decided that today is Sunday Funday and she doesn't care what anyone thinks!

Jolene is wearing our custom Darby Scarf of Shame™ after having a run in with the backside of her collar plate brad.

Jolene is from the June 2021 Devall Catahoulas litter between Midnight's Jade X Seal's Axel. She played a very active role in the 2021-22 Whitetail Deer tracking season with our team High Caliber Tracking & Recovery, surpassing any expectations you might have of a 5-6 month old first year puppy.

Well, we made it! All of the puppies are old enough to go home and they will start that journey today!

This evening, Zack Bowen will come get Tucker and take him back to Georgia where he will join SaraBelle. Both Tucker and SaraBelle will be headed to Devall Catahoulas closer to the end of the year where Randall and his team of trainers will get them ready for their job as game recovery dogs.

Tomorrow, Ronnie Sykes will stop by and pick up "Gus", short for Agustas. Ronnie says that Gus is going to be spoiled just like his kids -- hopefully Gus will be able to earn his keep by tracking up those big deer that Ronnie hunts just south of us.

Over the course of the next 2 weeks, the rest will find their way to far off places like Florida, Texas and beyond.

We'll be sure to share any pictures we get as they grow. We know they're going places!
