This is George and what a horrible way to get started in life. He was used as a beat pig to train dogs to hunt ferals. Multiple puncture wounds and a broken shoulder bone where he had been dragged by a rope tied around his nose. George is only four months old. Yesterday was a all day visit Vet to make George feel better. Right now George does not trust people at all which is very understanding as humans can be so cruel.

There has been a rumor floating around that Atlasta Jome Sanctuary has closed or is in the process of closing. To be perfectly clear- Atlasta Home Sanctuary IS NOT CLOSED and IS NOT CLOSING its doors!!! We are open, however, our current intake is being limited to feral pigs only. Feral pig rescue has been and still is our specialty.
Please spread the word that we are NOT closed!!!
Thank you,
Chris

Watching little piglets play is honestly one of the best ways to start the week off, don’t you think?! Earlier this morning we had the pleasure of introducing two of our precious piglets to their new ball, we think they like it!

Today was a day on what Christmas is all about. We gave out 89 gift bags at the Renflo Nursing Home Christmas party. Everyone got a full bag of goodies, ( slippers, socks, pants, tshirts, hats, gloves, coin purse, baggies full of personal care products, blankets and candy). It was so great to see their excitement. Some put their slipper socks on right away and made a point to thank us. For me Christmas was today!
Thank you Chris Griffin for helping today.

Thank all of you that helped make this possible with your donation.

Thank you Dianne for all you did to help.

I had the great pleasure to meet this wonderful young man. Colen loves pigs, but where he lives they are not allowed so he told his Grandma that he wanted to come visit Atlasta Home and pick a pig he could sponsor. This was his birthday wish. He took the tour of all the pigs. The pigs made him feel right at home. My ferals fell right at his feet for some pretty muddy tummy rubs or they rubbed mud all over his Mom's and Grandma's legs. My pigs want you to feel right at home! So after a very hard decision, Colen picked " Chops ". A 5mth old feral plus "Penelope " a 3mths old feral.
He will be visiting and beable to watch them grow up.
Thank you Colen and your family for sponsoring and caring for these wonderful pigs.

Atlasta Home and all its critters want to give Chris Griffin our warmest application for coming out for the last 2wks and feeding, watering and alot of one on one with the pigs. Gertty was his favorite and made sure he was doing all the right things with the water hose. Some how she talked him into getting her a bath everyday,,l don't know who enjoyed it most!
I had some oral surgery so l was in no shape to do anything, but just watch. It is always a overwhelming experience feeding 400. Chris did it like a champ!
Thank you!

I hope you all enjoyed Atlasta Home as much as the animals and l did.
WE THANK YOU!

Just a quick note to let everyone know we survived the storms last night. It was pretty scary, with LOTS of thunder and lightening and heavy rain. It was so SCARY that one of the dogs Harley, found his very own storm shelter in the washing machine!

Other than being really soggy, we are ok. I think everyone is beginning to develop webbed feet though....

PIG ROUND-UP IS CANCELED !

I apologize for this late update, but I was holding out to see if Mother Nature would work with me, but I lost. We got a down poured on yesterday and again this morning. There is a 80% chance of rain Thursday, Friday and into Saturday. There is no way we can work with the animals, much to dangerous for them and us. To wet to paint or clean-up. I have volunteer who are going to help build new houses, but they have been rained out the last 2 weekends. We wanted them ready to be painted, set up and fenced.
I will try to get in a volunteer day in May. Will keep you posted.
Thank you all so much for your time and help.

UPDATE !!!!!! ON VOLUNTEER DAY!

Sadly this will have to be rescheduled due to on over whelming of rain. Mud up to my ankles. There is no way we could efficiently work in such difficult conditions.

That being said, PLEASE put APRIL 18 & 19 on your calendar. This will be our, " PIG ROUND-UP & WORK DAY". It will be a great opportunity for those who like to get down and dirty and for those who would prefer to assist in not so rigorous tasks.

This will be a great learning experience for everyone and a glimpse of what it's like to run a sanctuary and rescue.
I will be putting out all info prior to the event so please spread the word as not to miss anyone.

THANK YOU ALL for your continued support.
Hope to see you at the ROUND-UP.

A Rescue Story

Saturday afternoon, Jacob Wilton was driving down a two lane highway in Alba (East Texas) when he spotted a small animal running around in the ditch by the road. He pulled over to see what it was. It was a small potbelly pig! Jacob tried to get it to come to him but it wouldn't come closer than a few feet away. He looked in his truck to see if he had any crackers or chips or something, nothing....so he gets in the truck and drives a short distance to a store and buys some peanuts. When he gets back to where the pig was he sees that several people have stopped and are chasing the pig trying to catch it. Terrified the pig runs and runs and ran onto the highway a few times before darting back to the brush. The people give up and leave. Meanwhile Jacob had been waiting off to the side patiently. Eventually the pig wanders back out. Jacob calmly and quietly walks close and tosses some peanuts on the ground. He knelt down with the peanuts in front of him and up comes the pig. Jacob was able to catch the pig! After a few phone calls to his mom, arrangements were made to get the little one to Atlasta Home. This little girl looks to be no more than 4 months old and has not only survived being on her own, almost hit by a car and chased, she has also been the victim of a DOG ATTACK! One of her ears is completely gone, the other has been torn and there are bite marks on her neck. The wounds are almost healed, they probably are about a month old. She is now safe and sound here. Once she calms down we will try and get a better look at her and get her set up with a vet appointment.

Thank you Jacob Wilton for taking the time to rescue this baby!
