As many have noticed I’ve been a little quiet on the home front with our 2.5 week old babies. I promise I’m not ignoring y’all but I’ve been dealing with a few issues that require my full undivided attention. Since bringing this litter home I’ve been dealing with two aspirating during every feeding which in turn had me begin bottle feeding, still aspirating so I’ve been tube feeding. Our little girl who was being tube fed is back to mom 100% and doing AMAZING! Little boy we’ve been tubing is still being tubed with a secondary feeding on mom after his sisters have got the first drop down. Last Sunday three of the babies started presenting with signs of aspiration pneumonia, but for the life of me I couldn’t hear anything in their lungs. I racked my brain and let’s not even talk about the chart I had going with all the symptoms/times/temps etc (I was literally I’m driving myself insane, not sleeping constant worry and the not knowing was ugh). Monday evening our black and tan boy started rapidly breathing and had a very restless night 😢 Wednesday morning I had another breeder/friend (thank you so much, you know who you are 😉😘)come by to take a look because I was stumped. After a bit she realized that from the pups aspirating they started getting a flat chest (this is not something I’ve dealt with before so it was all new), so Amazon here I come ordering harnesses, egg shell mattress pad and more. Later that day I had to run to the store for some supplies and when I got home I prepped the incubator for the babies. As I was putting them in the incubator I noticed my black boy stopped breathing. I preformed CPR and mouth to mouth for over 5 minutes but my efforts weren’t enough 😢. I don’t care how long you’ve been doing this it’s heart breaking and devastating. And unfortunately I am the type where I start looking back in notes seeing what else could I have done. It’s not healthy I know, but I just can’t help it. At this point all but one girl was being tube fed with goat milk, puppy support vitamins and occasional liver water. Fast forward to today……. All my girls are nursing off mom 100%, we are alternating who wears the harness (go figure they are both the same size and we only had one), they are now beginning to play with one another and moving around like crazy. Just dealing with mama not producing much milk since being engorged but it’s improving.

Playtime outside! Now that the babies have been vaccinated and old enough they’ve been spending a lot of time outside wondering. They love playing with the big dogs.

EVERY MORNING….. it’s cleaning time in the Royal Buckeye house. Anyone who knows me, knows how a**l I am about a clean house (sometimes it’s messy…. How would it not be with 4 boys but NEVER dirty). I pride myself on keeping a spotless home and one that doesn’t smell like dog. Which by the way can be difficult, especially with 7 week old
Pups when all they do it p**p.
BLEACH is my best friend…. I know my family gets tired of their nose hairs burning from the smell but 🤷🏼‍♀️ at least I know I won’t have any nasty germs coming in here. You have to be very careful when it comes to newborn babies and those that have yet to be vaccinated. My family knows that when we have a litter they are to take their shoes off at the front door (they should be doing this anyways but you know teenagers🤦🏼‍♀️). No going outside barefoot and walking back in….. ok so I’m a bit overboard but you can never be careful.

Daily routine:

0900- clean & bleach pen area, clean potty station, take dirty linens to laundry and wash.
0900-1000- crazy town with the babies running around
0930- set up pen area with clean linens, and fresh water.
1000- babies back in pen
1001- babies out like a 💡🤣
REPEAT AT 9:00pm😩

Guess what day it is?!?!?!? Vaccine day!!!
Did you know that most people OVER vaccinate their animals? We follow the Dodds protocol and have never had any issues. I’ve attached the schedule in which vaccinations are recommended. We’ve always done our first year vaccinations with distemper, parvo and rabies (given every 3 years after the first annual) but the others we avoid due to extreme side effect including death on a few. If you are going to board your animal we do recommend the boretella 3-7 days prior to boarding to safe guard your pup against kennel cough (only downside is this only covers 2 of the possible 8 strains… most kennels require this to board).
This is our personal preference and by no means are we saying that everyone should do it. However, it is something to think about.

STUNNING!!! Happy 7 weeks my darlings (Banshee isn’t pictured, he decided to take a nap in mom’s bed so I’ll get one later). They have the cutest personalities, definitely finding their voices and figuring out who is boss….. not going to name names but let’s just say the girls rule the roost 💗💗🤣. They have been completely weened, doing great on the potty station, and absolutely LOVE toys. We introduced them to antlers and of course it was a hit.

This melts my heart💗 Pyrrha (Harper’s sister) will be having her first litter in the next 2 days. She is one of our guardian pups and is such a sweetheart. We’ve had her here for the past couple days and she will continue to be here until her babies are weened. She’s been loving all the extra goodies, sleeping in bed with me and all the belly rubs.
