Some beautiful glamour shots of our golden gal Roxie exploring the outside and soaking in the sun ☀️. That spa day made her look like a whole new dog. Roxie is doing well in her foster home. Doesn’t mind any other pets, but would fit best in a home with dogs that are lower energy as she is in her golden years. She doesn’t mind cats and completely ignores them. We are looking for a hospice foster home for her once we can get her evaluated by a vet. Don’t miss out on your chance to provide Roxie with a home she can spend the rest of her days in.

Thank you for helping us save Roxie, Milo, Ava & Charlie in the last week! Now that they are safe, we need to make sure they are healthy!

Roxie has some significant skin issues and severe dental disease that will warrant a vet visit to ensure she is comfortable. While her age is very advanced, and our options especially for dental care may be limited, we want to make sure she is as comfortable as possible. Depending on her health, Roxie may be a candidate for a hospice foster.

Our sweet Milo is doing well, but he needs some perianal fistulas addressed by our vet team which will likely require some long term management and medications.

Charlie will need neutered and a good wellness exam. Ava needs a good check up as well considering her obesity as well as some osteoarthritis addressed.

We would like to raise at least $250 ($1000 total) for each of our new intakes to ensure they can receive quality veterinary care for all the need. Seniors tend to be quite expensive for the care they need, but we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Roxie is doing well with her foster mom Ashlyn Lipford. This golden girl got a much needed groom and is looking like a new dog. All she needed was some TLC. Roxie is available for adoption and we are looking for a second foster home for her. Please reach out via our facebook messenger if you like to help foster or adopt Roxie.

Ava update!!!

She is doing well and thriving. She is getting in those much needed walks and is getting along so well with her cat and dog siblings. She is very fond of cats and enjoys giving them kisses. This sweet girl is nothing short of a rare gem.

URGENT NEED!!! 🚨 We are still looking for committed foster for Bonita the senior GSD who due to her age is on the euthanasia list. She is. This sweet girl is good with the littles, cats, and dogs. Please let’s help get her out.

We also have a 15yr old Australian shepherd mix who is great with littles and cats. He is very stressed out due to his age and being thrown into a shelter.

Both are ready to be fostered and will even help with transportation if you are not in the Shelby area to pick up.

Even if you can help for a short time, that’s fine. We just want to make sure these beautiful seniors don’t spend their last golden year days in a shelter.

Yet another plea for 2 senior pets who need out of the shelter immediately.

15yo Australian shepherd mix. Lived with kids and cats. Very, very stressed in the shelter and needs out immediately.

Bonita - Senior German Shepherd. She’s on the euthanasia list due to her age. She did great with our friend Milo, and likely will do ok with cats.

Both of these guys need commitments for fosters, even short term, asap. They’re in Shelby Co Alabama but we have plenty of transport options.

Lots of celebrating this Easter weekend with Milo(13 yo lab/shepherd mix) making it to his hospice foster, a committed foster for Ava who faced euthanasia AND a pending adoption for our hooved friend Larry!

Your donations helped with his bi yearly vaccines, coggins, daily anti imflammatories and a much needed visit with Brandon the farrier for a pedicure!

Thank you to EVERYONE who liked, shared, commented, donated, committed… without all of you this wouldn’t be possible!

Milo is in his foster home and is acclimating well to his cat and dog siblings. We want to say a huge thank you to Jordan who was able to spring Milo from the shelter and provide a ride down to his new foster family the Robbin’s who will care for him as a hospice foster.
Again we can’t do what we do without the help of the community, our amazing fosters, and volunteers. You can continue to show support by fostering, applying for adoption, and even donating (any amount helps) so we can continue to take care of these beautiful seniors.

Calling all FOSTERS!!! EMERGENCY FOSTER NEEDED!!!

Ava is a sweet 10 yr old senior GSD who needs to be saved asap. Time is of the essence with this beautiful girl. She is in a high kill shelter and needs to be pulled ASAP before the clock runs out on her sweet soul.
Ava is a little over weight (but looks sliming in the photo), has one good eye, and a kind heart. She is good with people and will do amazing in a home with low energy pets that dont mind giving her, her space.
Please consider fostering or adopting sweet Ava. Don’t let her cross the bridge early.

❤️‍🔥 We are looking for 4-8 used round pen/corral panels for Larry! ❤️‍🔥 These will be used to give him a safe temporary spot to eat. We would even be happy to borrow them or accept Monetary donations towards them ☺️

The cute old guy had a much needed visit with our farrier today & we are going to get him started on a daily NSAID.

Larry is also partially blind. He can definitely see, but not well. Therefore, he really clings to a buddy!

We are also open to a foster/foster to adopt for Larry if you have other gentle horses that he can buddy up with to feel safe with.

Urgently posting for help for 10-year-old Ava!!

This girl is at risk of euthanasia if a place is not found for her by early next week! She is a very sweet girl, while she gets along with other dogs, she does not tolerate them well in her face.

She will need a home that is low-key and chill, and has other animals that don’t pay attention to each other or are also chill.

Ava is obese, and will need a patient foster to help her lose her winter body!

If you are able to foster Ava or are interested in adopting her, time is of the essence! We really need someone to step up for her!!

National Pet ID Week is always for seven days starting April 17. It gives pet owners an excellent opportunity to review the steps they can take to ensure their pet has the best chance of being recovered should the animal become lost. An estimated one in three pets will go missing at some point. Data also suggests that about 5 million animals enter shelters each year. Of those shelter animals, 40 to 60 percent are lost pets. Getting those pets back home can reduce shelter crowding and free up valuable resources and kennel space for truly homeless animals.

*Consider getting a microchip. If your pet is already microchipped, make sure your address and phone number are up to date with the manufacturer.

True to our directors heart, our bylaws couldn’t leave our senior horses. We would really like to get this senior Appaloosa gelding out of the situation he is in, clearly based on his underweight condition.

In order to do this, we really need to raise at least $500 for his intake.

Horses require quite a bit more veterinary care, refeeding expertise, visits with farrier… and obviously a lot of FOOD! We want to ensure we can provide him with a space to have his health updated addressed and proper refeeding addressed.

He will be available for adoption once his weight is rehabbed and he’s cleared by the vet.
