Argosy Terriers

Judie Baker-Shirk is the force behind Argosy Terriers. Her love affair with Jack Russell Terriers started when Judie was 4 1/2 YO, in April 1948 when she was given a white female pup. The pup's parents were smuggled on a submarine at the end of WWII from England. The smuggler, a close friend of Judie's father, served as a submariner in the US Navy. He was bringing the pair back to help with rodent

control on his mink farm in NW Washington state. BITSY became a constant companion for Judie, an only child. She even was in Judie's wedding. At the incredible age of 21, Bitsy succumbed to injuries after an altercation with a German Shepherd. JRT #2 lived to 20 years old. Not long after that Judie and Janice Freimark formed J & J Terriers. They had a great run and produced some incredible terriers. Health, family, and personal concerns ended the formal arrangement for Judie and Janice, but ARGOSY Terriers was formed. Hanging on to some of the original bloodlines and introducing the occasional new terrier, Judie moved on. and continues to breed high quality Jack Russell Terriers under the Argosy name.
