Get prepared! Tuesday Enumclaw could see winds up to 60mph.
On Tuesday, a truly impressive mid-latitude cyclone is going to develop a few hundred miles west of the coast of Washington. Some of the models are indicating that the pressure could drop as low 940mb. IF this storm were a few hundred miles further east, we’d be talking about the likelihood of a major regional windstorm. But alas, it will remain well offshore. There will still be some big impacts though.
One of the biggest impacts that this storm will bring, is the potential for damaging east winds for communities along the foothill communities on the west side of the Cascades. Typical gap wind areas could see exceptionally strong winds, and there is a chance that they could go further west than normal. Spots like Enumclaw, North Bend, Snoqualmie Ridge, parts of Issaquah and Big Bend Washington have a shot seeing gusts up to and possibly exceeding 60mph if some of the models verify. For now, I would put that level of wind in the possible category, we will know better soon. The pressure gradient across the Cascades looks like it will be really impressive, and would merit an east windstorm. I will go into more detail on what different locations could see wind wise tomorrow.
Another area that could see crazy east wind is on the western entrance of the Strait of Juan De Fuca. Areas like Neah Bay should prepare for strong wind.
More details to come, storm season is here!
