Our Ancona ducks are giving around this many eggs every 3 days. I can’t keep up! Incubators and broody muscovy girls are full.

Here is some creative thinking… I’m going to share some information that most people may not have already heard about. Chinese Skullcap is used for the treatment and prevention of AI. 1/4 cup to 3 gallons. It has to be Chinese Skullcap. Gardeners, it will likely grow in your garden 4a-9 zones. It’s also a beautiful flower, resembling a snap dragon. You can order it online in pill form or powder. I am not a veterinarian, nor can this be used against me. Do your research and make your own decision. But, this could save your birds life or prevent them from getting sick. You can order it online as Baicalin. Europe suggested it to the United States, but it seemed to have been dismissed. Europe saw great success with this. Carolina Waterfowl Rescue uses this as well. They are THE best in their medical field, IMO. This could be a possibility for other animals as well, just do YOUR research. Good luck everyone.

A lot has changed this summer. We now, only, have Ancona ducks and Muscovy ducks. Our only domestic geese on the farm are cotton patch geese; with the exception of “Buffy” our old 12 year old Buff goose, who is retiring as a pet, here. Our last foster parent geese, moved to their new homes. A beautiful Pomeranian goose to Cool Creek Farm and 4 to a family who wanted geese on their pasture with sheep. We will be having a variety of Ancona next year, both crested and crested free flocks. Don’t worry, we will be keeping the crested girls separate. It’s a bittersweet feeling, knowing that a some of our feathered friends have left us. But, it frees up more time and space, knowing that we will only be having one breed. We also added a beautiful pair of Australian Black Swans to our home. It’ll be a few years before they can reproduce and that’s ok with us. Thank you all for supporting us.

Summer time is a hard time to catch up. There’s a lot of work to be done. And, if I’m outside, I don’t have service. And, when I finally come inside… I’m usually rushing to get something done or I’m falling asleep. I apologize for any unread messages.

We have switched our ducks around and hope to be offering heritage Ancona ducks next year from a variety of different color eggs, and a variety of different colored ducks. Also, Muscovies.
