Sarah is a trainer with PAD and has her own service dog Mushu! Read what she has to say:
"Mushu is a 6 year old working service dog that was owner-trained for mobility assistance. He provides counterbalance, forward momentum, picks up dropped items, and supports me when standing up from a sitting position for a connective tissue disorder and will provide DPT for a cardiac condition. His sunny personality is a hit with everyone he meets. I am so lucky PAD has a puppy raise to owner train program, otherwise I would have never found my best friend! Support to PAD directly helps dogs like Mushu and partners like me who needed more surety before committing to adopting a dog to train."

"Every day, Malik empowers me to navigate the world with independence, confidence, and a sense of security I never thought possible.

Malik isn’t just my companion; he is my lifeline. Whether it’s assisting with physical tasks, providing emotional support, or alerting me to potential challenges, he makes life’s hurdles a little easier to overcome.

Because of Malik, I’ve been able to understand my body and migraines to a level that has shocked me, picks things up off the floor for me removing anxiety I didn’t know I had, alerts me when I’m stressed and need to reset, and has taught me patience in areas I needed improvement. He reminds me daily of the power of unconditional love and the importance of accessibility for all.

As we celebrate the spirit of giving today, I encourage you to support organizations like PAD that make life-changing partnerships like mine possible. Together, we can help others experience the life-changing impact of a service dog."

Terri is our virtual trainer who is currently raising PAD Taro! Here is her testimony:
PAD Taro is considered a program dog, who will be matched with a partner soon. As he starts in advanced training, he will learn tasks specific to his partner’s needs - if mobility support is needed, he will learn to work in a special harness; if his partner has limited range of motion, he will learn to release items he retrieves on cue directly to their hand.
My family is enjoying raising and training him, knowing that he and his tasks will support his partner to have more independence along with his companionship.

Megan says: "Susannah and I are training with Phoenix Assistance Dogs as an owner training team Susannah is training to help me successfully wake up in the mornings and support various disabilities. Her training will allow me to be confidently independent and pursue great opportunities away from home without needing a human companion for assistance and support. We are so thankful for PAD and all the help they have given us through this training process!"

"Our family had been looking for a service dog option we could afford for years until we met Linzey at the Abilities Expo. Getting Crumpet from PAD and doing owner training has been such a great experience for our family! We love the PAD trainers and they are so patient and positive in helping us learn to train Crumpet to meet our son’s needs." - Kristen

Miley is owner training PAD Aspen through us! Here is what she has to say: "PAD is absolutely amazing! With the help of Aspen I have been able to do so many things I could've never done without her! Everyone is so supportive and so helpful with training. Training a service dog is such an intimidating idea but with all their help it's not nearly as scary! I'm so thankful for all the help so far with Aspen and that they gave me the opportunity to have her."
