The Lord has definitely taught patience the last 18 days.

When a 12 day trip turns into 18 days, it’s easy to get frustrated. Kudos to the other 3 guys in these pictures for gutting it out.

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone” - Neal Donald Walsh

This September Brett along with 3 others are being dropped by bush plane in the Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge for a 10-day DIY moose & wolf hunt.

Whether these locking tags get put to use or not, stepping foot on the last frontier is what this trip is all about.

Where are you hunting this year?

What an amazing year.

We want to take a minute here to thank all of our new and returning customers for trusting backcountry with your European mounting needs during the 2021-2022 hunting season.

We will be shutting down operations on March 1st, and will not be processing animals again until September. Drop-offs during the off-season will still be accepted by appointment, but will be stored until September. All animals in our possession prior to March 1st will be completed in the next 6 weeks.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing YOU next year when you bag your buck of a lifetime!

Every year it seems we run into a new animal that we’ve never heard of.

This is called a Watusi, and it was the most challenging project to date for the backcountry team. With horns stretching out almost 6 feet, this magnificent animal will be quite the centerpiece wherever it goes.

Most bear hunts end up being a long walk in the woods with your buddies.

But on the off chance you come across one, and make that shot…

That’s a moment you’ll never forget.

Early season buck are starting to head home to customers!

Our 6-8 week cleaning process is long, and in some ways more costly, but we are not willing to compromise with results like this.

Happy rut week!

The rut is a wonderful way to get up close and personal with giant buck that would normally steer clear of any human contact. This is a video taken by Brett on Saturday, while driving to his evening hunting spot.

Carve out some time this week to get in the woods, you won’t regret it.

Every time A Buffalo comes through the door, there is a lot of excitement, but also a little bit of sadness.

Thinking back through America’s history, the Buffalo dominated the landscape, numbering over 40 million, and somehow in 100 years we almost completely destroyed the population. Thank goodness we reversed course through conservation efforts, and now have a thriving population for hunters and outdoorsman to enjoy once more.

Which one is yours?

It’s crazy to think of the 100’s of scouting & hunting hours that have gone into harvesting this table of trophies right here. Hard work DOES pay off!

Do what you love. Period.

My name is Brett Nolt, founder of Backcountry Beetleworks. As an avid hunter and outdoorsman, the hunting tradition, and stories that come with it, is what inspired this business.

Whether I'm in a waterfowl blind on a rainy day, calling coyotes under the cover of dark, or hunting big game on a crisp November morning, you can find me pursuing this passion.

My love of hunting and business has driven me to start Backcountry Beetleworks, a skull cleaning service for hunters who want a more cost effective mounting option to show off their trophy hunt for generations to come.

My army of Dermestid Beetles work tirelessly in a dark, temperature controlled room. They are a very fragile species that need specific conditions to do the job. The end product is a skull that is cleaned far beyond the abilities of the human hand.
