Farm Help Wanted:
Working student, internship, part time, full time or volunteer.
- Job responsibilities include but aren’t limited to: turn-in, turn-out, feeding for ~ 25 horses, cleaning ~18 stalls, paddock cleaning, cleaning and filling waters, stuffing hay-bags, general horse care, tacking and untacking, and possible instructor opportunity.
- hydrants near all outside waters, 2019 Kawasaki with hydraulic lift for mucking, friendly drama free atmosphere.
Moonlight Equestrian Center is located just a few minutes north from exit 7 off of Route 101, and is only 15 minutes from UNH.
We are looking for motivated individuals with reliable transportation. Most importantly we are looking for someone who is reliable, self sufficient, has good time management skills, and a positive attitude. Prior experience with horses and farm work is necessary. Riding opportunities are a possibility for the right candidate. Pay rate depends on experience level.

As cases of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) are on the rise, it remains critically important that horse owners take steps to protect their equine friends (and their families) from mosquito bites. If you live in a region where mosquito populations persist well into the fall months, your veterinarian may recommend additional fall booster vaccinations against EEE/WEE and WNV (West Nile Virus).

If you don't know your horse's vaccination history or you are unsure whether they have received a certain vaccine, it's not too late to start from scratch with an initial series of inoculations followed by the appropriate boosters, as recommended by your horse doctor.

So, what is Eastern Equine Encephalitis?

EEE is a severe, viral disease affecting the central nervous system, and is transmitted to equids (and humans) by infected mosquitoes. There is no cure for EEE, and the mortality rate is 75-95% (in horses). Prevention through vaccination is key.

When I hear someone say, "My horse deserves a better rider" it breaks my heart a little bit.

Because you know what?

Recreational riders are the BEST thing that has happened to horses worldwide.

DON'T feel bad for not competing, or working your horse everyday, or that so-and-so is riding at a higher level than you are.

DON'T feel guilty if you don't want to show.
Or jump higher.
Or jump at all.
Or canter.
Or even ride!

What matters TO YOUR HORSE is that their physical needs are met and their mental and emotional well-being is cared for.

And caring is what most amateur owners can do better than ANYONE else.

Most horses don't NEED or WANT to be ridden at a professional or competitive level. With few exceptions, most horses left to their own devices just want to hang out in the field with their friends eating.

It's great to want to improve your communication and riding skills.

And If your goal is to do more athletic and difficult things, then yes, you owe it to your horse to learn to be a good dance partner and pilot for him

AT THAT LEVEL, BUT...
.. No one sets that level but you. And you CAN be good for your horse at ANY level.

No shame, backyard horse owners!

You shall inherit the earth.

Our three lesson options include:

🥕Riding Lessons: $275 for a package of 4 - 45 minute lessons. 💲A savings of $25!💲
🥕Driving Lessons: $340 for a package of 4 - 60 minute lessons. 💲A savings of $20!💲
🥕Advanced Dressage Lessons: $475 for a package of 4 - 45 minute lessons. 💲A savings of $25!💲- Previous riding experience is required.

🦄🦄Two of our Horses are set for Half Leasing too!

❓What that means is that you get the experience of owning your own horse without having to support all of the cost.❓

🦄🦄Both the horses we have for Half Lease are also used in some of our lesson packages.

🐴Fletcher is a 10 year old registered Morgan gelding. He’s a school horse from beginners to experienced riders. His favorite things to do are pole work and schools first level movements. Fletcher is a safe ride who lives for his treats. Best suited for those teens and adults looking for more miles in the saddle.

🐴Sky is a 16 year old Haflinger mare. If you want to practice your grooming skills, Sky’s the horse for you since she has lots of hair! She’s a great pony for someone who has some riding experience and isn’t looking for that giddy up and go. She’s well behaved both under the saddle and in the cart. Sky’s great for confidence building under saddle for walk, trot, and canter. **Only experienced drivers will be considered with prior driving experience to keep both Sky and the driver safe.**

✨Weekly lessons are required with the Half Lease along with scheduled days and times you would be riding or possibly driving.✨

Join us this Sunday at 6:00PM via Zoom for an informational session about the new dressage tests to learn about what judges are looking for during your test. Then, ride your test in front of the judge the following weekend!
