She is a 4 year old female Australian Shepard, trained, AKC registered, microchipped, up to date on shots, but she did just have a litter of puppies so she would need to be spayed. Attention Epsom Community! Someone found this beautiful feline in their driveway this morning in Breezy Acres and brought him to us. He is black and white, does not have a microchip, and seems to be a young adult. We are keeping him comfortable here at the clinic, but would love help to find his owner! There have been recent reports of a severe respiratory infection in dogs causing sneezing, nasal discharge, cough lethargy, and inappetence. Unfortunately we do not have a diagnosis at this time for many of the cases. In an abundance of caution, we are making changes to our recommendations for vaccine protocol for dogs that attend daycare, boarding, dog parks, grooming and other interactive training situations.
We are recommending for all dogs who interact in dog groups ro receive the canine infectious respiratory disease (referred to as kennel cough), the distemper/adenovirus vaccine, and the canine influenza vaccine. Your dog may already have part of these vaccines.
Canine influenza is a highly contagious respiratory infection that is antibiotic resistant, known as H3N2 and H3N8.
The canine influenza vaccine is a two part vaccine consisting of one starter vaccine and one booster 3 weeks later. After that period it is recommended to be booster once a year.

At this time we are starting a mandatory requirement for all of our daycare dogs to receive the canine influenza vaccine. If you do not wish to have your dog vaccinated for this, your dog will no longer be allowed at daycare in Suncook River Vet.

Both the first and second vaccine can be done as a tech appointment which can be scheduled at many different times and should only take a maximum of 10 minutes to do.

We do also have handouts in clinic about the virus and symptoms to note if you would like to pick one up at your next appointment.
