As most of you know, we like to work our board and train dogs around our chickens. Today we were working Teddy on place, and Wendy decided to help. 🤣
Hi everyone, I just want to apologize for the lack of updates and missed calls/messages that we were late in getting back to lately. We had to lay to rest our oldest pack member Tabu last Tuesday 6/6. It's been a very emotional time for our family having lost my best friend of the last thirteen and a half years.
Some of you have had the pleasure of knowing Tabu, and you already know what I am going to write. I first met Tabu back when I lived in Las Vegas in 2010 as a young 6 week old puppy where I fell in love with her spunk and sassy attitude. She came home with me the next week, which was the start of our incredible journey together.
I named her Tabu because of the negative association that people have with pitbulls and the fact that I made it my mission to show people how wrong they could be about them. I wanted to show the world how awesome they could be.
Tabu changed the minds of a majority of the anti pitbull people that got to interact with her. In her mind, everyone was put on this earth for her to love. There wasn't a person she met in all of her years that she did not like. My mom was an anti pitbull person when I got Tabu, and before Mom died in 2021, she commonly referred to her as her grand dog and always threatened to take her to live with her. My dad, who died last year in 2022, was not a dog person at all and he loved her and wanted to keep her as his own as well. Of course she would never go anywhere but with me.
Tabu loved adventure. When we were both younger, we would go on weekly adventures going camping, hiking, and off-roading in the jeep. She loved to play fetch, and barn hunt was her absolute most favorite thing to do ever. I can still hear her screams of excitement when she knew it was her turn to compete next. We definitely got some weird looks from people though because the sound she made was blood curdling. We called it her banshee scream lol.
She traveled by jeep across the continental US with me, and even to Puerto Rico when we m
This is Cassie the doberman, one of our former board and trains, holding place for 45 mins. Place is one of my favorite commands. We use it for when guests come over, during meal times, movie time, or just when your dog needs a break. It is an exercise of restraint and impulse control which many dogs lack.
As you can see we train in a home environment and treat your dog like one of our own while they are staying with us for their board and train. We also take them out and about to various dog friendly stores and hiking trails once they are ready.
We have two different board and train options which are: the two week on leash program for learning all the basics (sit, down, stay, place, loose leash walking, and manners), and the three week option which includes all of the two week stuff plus an off leash portion where your dog learns to come when called no matter what kind of distractions are happening.
If you are considering training for your dog, please don't hesitate to reach out to schedule an evaluation. We come to you (within an hour drive from us), and can come up with a personalized training plan for your pup, whether it is a board and train or private in home lessons.
Just a short video of the puppies during the old home day parade. This was one of our goals with this litter, to have solid, stable temperament and quick recovery from new environmental stimulus. How many dogs do you know that are scared of loud trucks etc? This was their first time hearing sirens and loud honks/big trucks. Good job puppies!
Some playtime this morning. Finally some nice weather too!
Would ya just look at these little nuggets! 2 more weeks at they will be ready to go off to new homes!
