Eggs is ready for his forever home!

Now we don't generally take on fosters, but Edgar (Eggs, Eggy, Eggasaur, etc) was a special case. He is a littermate to our Bryar, the dog in the Diamond Dogs logo. When the breeder asked if we could take him from the former owner to rehab, who were we to say no?! He was severely overweight and couldn't do stairs when he got here the day before Thanksgiving. Through slow weight loss and physical therapy, he is down 25lbs and stairs are much easier!

Eggy is an Alapaha Bulldog from Currahee Mountain Bulldogs. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines, is around 85lbs. He turns 6 end of August. He is amazing with all people big and small. He is interested in our chickens and our cat, but that could easily be managed. He is house broken and crate trained. We do feel that he would do best as an only dog. He does not like male dogs, but even most female dogs find his play-style/stance off-putting, so a single dog home or a crate and rotate home is preferred.

He will need to be on joint supplements when he goes home, and we found a food that does not irritate his skin/ears/bowels which we can discuss with his future home. He would be a great therapy dog. Training can be discussed as an option as well. The new owners would have not only our support, but the support of his breeder in Georgia. There will be a rehoming fee.

If Eggs and Bry could get along, then he would stay (siblings 🙄😁). But, alas, someone else is going to luck out! So please contact us if you are interested in this big sweet snuggle bug.

We take on very few dogs at a time for our board and train programs so that they get individualized attention. Here is Teddy doing his own version of the "place" command while we ate dinner. It was a bit dramatic, but he held it! 🤣

06/13/2024

As most of you know, we like to work our board and train dogs around our chickens. Today we were working Teddy on place, and Wendy decided to help. 🤣

"If I die before my dog, let him see my body.
He understands death, if he feels my death he can cry for me.
If he doesn't see me again he will think I abandoned him and he will continue waiting for my return.
If I die before my companion, let him say goodbye to me.

No, this isn't a dog even though she thinks she is.
Meet Ziva! She is already working on clicker training. But her most important job is as a distraction for our board and train dogs. She is social, sassy, and all about training! So please help us welcome Ziva to the Diamond Dogs household.

We have one last board and train spot for January. We are an in home based training business on 2.5 acres, so your dog gets trained in a real world environment around children and other pets, not at a loud kennel facility. They also go on field trips when they are ready, and have lots of playtime in our fenced in yard when they are not being worked or resting. You get weekly instructional training videos, 2 additional lessons, and any necessary training tools included. We also have day train and private lesson packages as well. Start the new year off right with your dog! Give us a call at (603)451-8082

Meet Edgar!

He is an owner surrender, which we do not normally take as we are not a rescue or shelter, but he is the littermate to our Bryar (our logo dog) so we made an exception.

He is severely overweight to the point where stairs are difficult and he gets short of breath easily. We have lowered his food intake, starting soft exercises, and he starts physical therapy at Canine Strong in Concord in two weeks.

He is a VERY sweet boy and we are working with his breeder, Currahee Mountain Bulldogs, in Georgia to get him back in shape and proper health.

No matter what he went through, he is a sweet and resilient boy. We will be posting his progress. Sweet Sweet Edgar.

We will keep our clients abreast of any illness that we see and any new findings as they come about. For now it is business as usual here!

I’ve held off writing about this but since I’ve been answering many emails about it every day, here we go. The questions I keep getting (as usual) are

Hi everyone, I just want to apologize for the lack of updates and missed calls/messages that we were late in getting back to lately. We had to lay to rest our oldest pack member Tabu last Tuesday 6/6. It's been a very emotional time for our family having lost my best friend of the last thirteen and a half years.

Some of you have had the pleasure of knowing Tabu, and you already know what I am going to write. I first met Tabu back when I lived in Las Vegas in 2010 as a young 6 week old puppy where I fell in love with her s***k and sassy attitude. She came home with me the next week, which was the start of our incredible journey together.

I named her Tabu because of the negative association that people have with pitbulls and the fact that I made it my mission to show people how wrong they could be about them. I wanted to show the world how awesome they could be.

Tabu changed the minds of a majority of the anti pitbull people that got to interact with her. In her mind, everyone was put on this earth for her to love. There wasn't a person she met in all of her years that she did not like. My mom was an anti pitbull person when I got Tabu, and before Mom died in 2021, she commonly referred to her as her grand dog and always threatened to take her to live with her. My dad, who died last year in 2022, was not a dog person at all and he loved her and wanted to keep her as his own as well. Of course she would never go anywhere but with me.

Tabu loved adventure. When we were both younger, we would go on weekly adventures going camping, hiking, and off-roading in the jeep. She loved to play fetch, and barn hunt was her absolute most favorite thing to do ever. I can still hear her screams of excitement when she knew it was her turn to compete next. We definitely got some weird looks from people though because the sound she made was blood curdling. We called it her banshee scream lol.

She traveled by jeep across the continental US with me, and even to Puerto Rico when we moved there to train dogs for a year. She always took everything in stride and adapted to every new situation that was put in front of her.

Tabu also overcame cancer multiple times. She had 4 surgeries over the years to remove the cancer. She endured knee surgery as well, which was definitely a hard recovery for her being an active dog. We did everything we could to keep her comfortable the last couple of years, but she continued to slow down. I thought we were going to lose her this past winter because she kept getting a really bad UTI, but amazingly my strong old gal pulled through once we found the right meds. It was my wish that she could see spring one more time and she made it happen.

The last couple of months though, she really started to slow down and I knew her time was close. I vowed that if she lost interest in the things that made her happiest, I would do what was right for my best friend that had been so loyal all these years and let her go so she would not suffer needlessly. I'm sure many, if not all of you know the pain of losing a beloved pet, and that you also know that sending them over that rainbow bridge is one of the most difficult decisions that you will ever have to make in your entire life.

Here's to you Tabu, we love you and you are sorely missed. Till we meet again Booboo.

I also want to give a shout out to our friends at Hold Fast Photography for making our last minute wish to get these end of life photos come true. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making it happen and providing us with these awesome memories. I will cherish them forever.
