This album will feature just SOME of the adoptable cats and kittens we have available for adoption here at the shelter as we currently have close to 100 cats/kittens!! Please stop down anytime during open hours to see ALL the cats and kittens we have available for adoption! Come adopt your new best friend!!

You are applying for a minimum commitment of 10-15 years when you adopt a pet. Be sure you are willing and able to make the investment in time, finances, and training (average $1,000 annually) to properly care and maintain your new pet!

If you own your own home we will check to verify. If you rent/rent to own we will need the contact information for the property owner in order to verify that you are allowed to have a pet on the property. Please talk to your landlord about adopting as there may be breed and size restrictions that may apply.

We DO allow out of the area adoptions - however you must come to the shelter to meet with the animal and to process your adoption. You will be required to provide us with proof of home ownership a copy of your deed, mortgage statement, or property tax are all acceptable. We do not put holds on the animals available for adoption and we do not ship our pets - adoption requires a face to face interview with a member of our staff and your personal interaction with the animal. There are no exceptions to this rule! A 24 hour meet and greet hold can potentially be placed on an animal of interest as long as your application has been pre-approved and there is no other applications pending (this hold only applies to out of area adopters and may exclude puppy adoptions)!!

Adoptions are based on the best possible fit for the new owner and animal. Adoptions are never done on a "first come/first serve basis". Your application may be approved or denied for any reason as we are trying to find the best fit possible in choosing lifelong homes. Everyone including ALL children (if any) present in the home will be required to come in to meet with the animal of interest. All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on their vaccinations. Basic Exams and Veterinary Care is provided for all animals in our care.

A "Meet and Greet" is required if you have other pets in your home (dogs only). All pets in the home must be Spayed/Neutered and up to date on at least their Rabies vaccines in order to be considered to adopt! It is HIGHLY recommended that your dog/s also be up to date on the Bordetella ( Kennel Cough) Vaccine in order to help prevent them from contracting kennel cough as it is an airborne virus that is prominent here at the shelter. Please consult with your Veterinarian and/or Call the shelter if you have questions.

We do not refund adoption fees or reimburse for expenses. Any expenses related to owning a pet are solely the responsibility of the new owner beginning when the animal leaves the shelter. This includes, but is not limited to adequate food, shelter, and veterinary care.

A HUGE THANK YOU to our friends at Erie Apparel and Oliver's Beer Garden for hosting the first annual Dog Day's of Summer! We had a GREAT turn out with lots of dogs and their humans joining us for the afternoon! Emily (from Scott Enterprise) and Greg (from Erie Apparel) stopped by and presented us with a BIG check (literally and figuratively)! Their timing couldn't be better with the newest onslaught of animals in our care! We appreciate our community for your continued support!

It's been a long hot week...but fortunately thanks to our Animal Cruelty Team and the caring Troopers from PA State Police a lot of animals are on their way to a better life. Over the past few days we've assisted in removing animals either abandoned or allegedly neglected - 26 cats, 4 dogs, 10 horses and 10 cattle all through the State Police with cruelty investigations and interventions. Most of the cats have severe dental disease, loaded with ear mites and parasites, and are underweight. Our Cruelty Team and Equine Center staff had their hands full the last two days tending to the new farm animals. All have serious medical issues. It will be a long road, especially for the horses and cattle, but their immediate needs are being addressed now and they are all safe. Dr. Lyon and Dr. Jean are handling the many medical needs of the animals. We are even enlisting the services of specialty farrier due to the severity of damage to the horses and cows feet. Some of these animals are not "out of the woods" quite yet...but we know with the care they're getting here coupled with your love, support, good vibes, prayers...they will all make it and know a great life from here on out. Huge shout out the Troopers who sweated next to us and worked hard with this round up...with this heat and the animals fragile conditions we had to be extra calm and make this as stress free on them as possible. Once the animals are cleared for adoption or foster to adopt we will post them individually...it will be at least two weeks on any of the horses and cattle.

If you're able to help...we could use the following items donated for this particular rescue: canned cat food, Tractor Supply or Amazon gift cards dropped off or emailed to the shelter. Monetary donations are also very much appreciated to help off set the cost of the extraneous medical care and other specific items these animals need. Donations to the shelter via PayPal, check or credit cards can be done online too.

These are ongoing State Police cases and under investigation still. We will share more information as we are allowed.

Special thanks to our friends at Erie Apparel for hosting the first annual "Dog Days of Summer" at at the beautiful Dobbin's Landing! We had a great crowd of dogs and their people including some shelter dogs looking for their new families!
