Job opportunity
Would you be able to recommend anyone to me who may be open to exploring career opportunities in the professional fee area? Below are a couple of positions I am recruiting for that are Pennsylvania & Texas. However do keep in mind we could assist your colleagues with their career choices nationwide. Any referrals would be appreciated and we do offer a $500.00 “thank you” referral bonus. Manager Professional Fee Coding Education – (Pennsylvania) - newly created position that will provide education to the coders and physicians (documentation to support coding) for professional fee services of physicians, not for their practice, but rather focused on services they provide in the hospital setting, inpatient, ER, and ambulatory coding. This manager will be able to work partially remote, but do to interfacing with physicians will also need to be mostly onsite. Bachelor’s Degree** and AHIMA or AAPC Certification is required. **May consider experience in lieu of degree. Physician Practice Documentation Educator – (Pennsylvania) specializing in physician practice for pro-fee billing. This position should have a background in physician coding and would spend their time educating physicians on appropriate documentation that supports compliant billing of E&M codes for hospital-owned physician practices. Director, Provider Coding Educator (Texas) - Looking for a strong leadership with technical expertise in coding, excellent communication/interpersonal skill and organizational skills. E&M coding for provider services in an Inpatient & Outpatient setting. Delivers presentations, and conduct one on one education with providers, teaches coding class, experience conducting coding seminars. Would prefer experience in a provider setting (private practice group) than an institution however; will consider someone with insurance plan or hospital experience. Prior work experience as coding consultant is a plus! Ideal candidate would be someone who is motivated by physicians as their clients rather than an institution’s agenda; someone who can relate to what motivates providers and comprehends their workflow. Requires: RHIA or CCS or CPC; RHIA or RHIA or CCDS would be a plus. Thank you for your time and consideration, Anita Anita Pate, VP Recruitment Stern & Associates, Inc. 1-888-676-1997 x307 [email protected]

Good evening! Just wanted to share the information for CMS' next webinar on Quality Payment Program Participation Criteria. Please review the following link for details and registration for the May 22nd webinar: https://engage.vevent.com/rt/cms/index.jsp?seid=828

On Monday, May 22nd at 1:00 PM ET, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will host an overview webinar on the participation criteria used to determine inclusion in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and Advanced Alternative Payment Models (APMs).

In follow up to our Novitas presentation, I wanted to share updated Signature requirements from CMS that were recently posted to the PIM, Chapter 3, section 3.3.2.4 - Signature Requirements. The update is effective 6/6/2017 and states: "Scribes are not providers of items or services. When a scribe is used by a provider in
documenting medical record entries (e.g. progress notes), CMS does not require the scribe to
sign/date the documentation. The treating physician's/non-physician practitioner's (NPP's)
signature on a note indicates that the physician/NPP affirms the note adequately documents the
care provided. Reviewers are only required to look for the signature (and date) of the treating
physician/non-physician practitioner on the note. Reviewers shall not deny claims for items or
services because a scribe has not signed/dated a note". (source https://www.cms.gov/regulations-and-guidance/guidance/manuals/internet-only-manuals-ioms-items/cms019033.html )
