Although Remy can’t see the lights, I know he feels the Christmas spirit 🎄 🎁

With Remy’s mom’s permission, I’d like to post about a genetic disorder he has called Golden Retriever Pigmentary Uveitis (with secondary Glaucoma). It is an inherited eye disease in Golden Retrievers that can cause severe vision complications. It's a progressive disease that usually appears later in life, with an average age at diagnosis of 8.5 years. GRPU can require surgery and has a guarded prognosis, with many eyes becoming blind from glaucoma. Unfortunately in Remy’s case, he has needed to have both of his eyes surgically removed due to high levels of pressure that caused him pain. Remy’s fur parents have done an outstanding job making him comfortable and helping him transition into this new part of his life. 🐾

GRPU can be detected with a DNA analysis, to see if dogs carry the gene before breeding. If you are buying a puppy of any breed - please make sure your breeder is ethical, responsible and health tests. Remy is lucky to have wonderful fur parents that will do anything for him, but unfortunately not all dogs are so lucky, and not all humans are able to afford the high costs associated with this disease. Please support your local animal shelter and ethical breeders! 🩵

And that’s a wrap! ✂️ December has been a busy month, I have seen 132 dogs this month! Lots of pups pretty for Christmas 🎄

The shop will be closed for the holidays with normal hours resuming on Thursday, January 2nd.
With that being said I do have a couple of announcements for 2025 🎉

Beginning in the new year, it will be REQUIRED to have your dog on a leash with a well fitted collar when coming to and from the shop. There has been far too many people chasing their dogs around the yard, and the road is really busy - I do not want someone’s furbaby to get hit by a car!
If you cannot carry your dog, please have them on a leash. 🐕

If you are going to be 15 minutes or more late to your appointment, we will have to reschedule. I work one-on-one with every dog I groom, meaning I don’t stack them on top of each other and have them at the shop for hours. That is so I am able to get your pup back to you in a timely manner, typically 1-2 hours! Your appointment is time reserved specifically for your dog - if you are late it unfortunately cuts into the next pup’s appointment. Please be courteous of the person after you and show up on time. 🩵

And now the part I’ve been dreading to post - there will be a $5-$10 price increase per dog beginning in January, depending on the size of your pup and service they recieve. This is something I never want to do - but must to keep up with rising costs in equipment, products, and maintenance among other things!
As always services are full - meaning nails, ear cleaning/plucking, glands, deshedding, trimming, facial & special shampoos/conditioner are always included in your service at no extra charge.
I promise to always use the very best products and tools on the market, and to never skimp out on quality! You can always count on walking into a clean and well disinfected safe space for your dog. New prices will go out with reminder calls/texts beginning in January! ✂️

And with that I want to THANK every single one of you for your unending support! Combs & Collars is so much better than I ever imagined, and 2024 was absolutely amazing! I am so lucky to have the best, happiest, and most appreciative customers - so many of you have become family. I seriously always feel SO LOVED by all of you! I know I have the best job ever, and even on the exhausting days I am grateful that I chose to be a dog groomer. 🐾

My heart is so full by this whole experience that is Combs & Collars. Headed into the new year with books so full I still cannot accept new clients, how awesome is that? See you all in 2025! 🥰
