Male, mixed breed
12 months old (as at 08.01.25)

NAME: Blackie

BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance from the pound.

BREED: Mixed breed

ASSETS: Easy going, affectionate, devoted, eager to please, loyal, friendly, obedient, active, sweet and playful! He hasn’t had the best start in life but still has a ton of love to give. He can be timid around new things so will need gentle reassurance and slow introductions at his own pace, so he realises that the world isn’t a scary place.

FAVOURITE THINGS: Blackie loves to play fetch, play in puddles, chew on bones, chase bugs and butterflies, and be wherever his people are. He’s never happier than when he’s getting attention and will happily follow you around just to be near you. He also loves to play with balls and treat toys.

ENDEARING FEATURES: He’s a very sweet, smart boy with a beautiful, affectionate nature. And he’ll happily take all the cuddles you’re willing to give!

OTHER ANIMALS: Blackie can be a little selective when meeting other dogs due to fear from lack of exposure rather than aggression. He was abandoned as a pup and so is still a little unsure and needs to learn the world is not a bad place. He gets very excited when seeing another dog so his energy can be overwhelming. His new owner will need to work with him through training and gentle exposure to grow his confidence and lower his excitement. He won’t be suited to a home with cats, chickens or other smaller animals as he is overly focussed on them and will try to catch.

GENERAL INFO: Blackie walks quietly on his lead. He will bark at strange noises, at strangers or if someone is at the door. As he’s a young dog he’s going through the chewing stage and also digs in the garden. He’s been doing great with command training in his foster home and knows a few commands already. Being the smart cookie he is, further training will be a breeze.

ESSENTIALS for Blackie:

** A loving home with someone who can be with him for a good part of the day or can take him with them when they go out.

** He will need daily exercise, playtime and mental activity. A home that is willing to involve him in daily activities is essential for him.

**Blackie has missed out on the foundation work given to a young pup, so it is essential that his new owners take him to training to broaden his experience and grown his confidence.

** Blackie needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore.

**Blackie needs to be allowed inside the home when you are there.

Blackie could live with dog-savvy, gentle older children (over 12) who will be able to read his signals and engage with him on a daily basis. He does tend to jump up so will need gentle correction to get out of this habit. At this stage in his development, he would probably prefer to be the only dog in his new home.

FOSTER CARERS NEEDED!!!

PUPPY 2 NOW SORTED!

SAFE Esperance has had an urgent request from our local pound to help these lovely dogs break out - with the holiday period SAFE had been unable to assist until now so some have been there way too long.

We are looking for foster homes to give each dog a chance and help us assess them to find their permanent homes - please click on each photo for further info.

When you foster for SAFE we cover all vet costs and can provide food, bedding, toys, collar, lead etc so you can foster dogs without incurring costs 😊

WINDEL (EC1367)
Female, Domestic Short Hair
8 months (as at 28/12/24)

Windel (black cat) is an absolute delight!
She is an affectionate snuggle bug and loves to snuggle with both her foster siblings and the older cats in the foster home.

She loves her food and will be won over instantly with treats.

Windel is very confident and is comfortable around both dogs and cats.

JEMIMA (EC1379)

Jemima is just the sweetest, calmest, and most gentle little girl.

She absolutely adores following her foster carer around all day, she is very inquisitive and loves to explore and see what you are getting up to.
She also really enjoys playing and would play all day if she could!
Once she’s done playing and exploring then she is happy to jump on your lap for snuggles and will soak up all the love that you can give her.

She has lived with cats, large dogs, chickens and a tiny human.

**CARER FOUND, THANKYOU!**
URGENT FOSTER CARE NEEDED

SAFE Esperance have been asked to take in this gorgeous mother and kittens from a local Animal Management Facility as soon as possible. The kittens are still young, and need a patient carer to begin handling them and introduce them into the household.

We also need urgent care of two mother's that have finished feeding and need a home (separately) to rest and recover.

After being surrendered with their siblings, Cairo and Rio have settled into foster care well and are ready to adopted (separately). Both can be quiet at first, but once settled, are lively, playful and affectionate. They're also both well-mannered and eager to enjoy your company.

As they are young, they can be introduced to children, cats and dogs in the household.

After being surrendered to SAFE with his siblings, Denver has taken a little time to warm up but now loves playing, is active, has bursts of energy and, of course, plenty of naps. He is described as sweet, affectionate and lively.
