As a Farrier, my main goal is to maintain long term soundness for your horse, in order to ensure a happy, and healthy life. I have four years experiance shoeing horses in my home state, Alaska, and another 2 in northern California. I was trained at Mission Farrier School by Mark Plumlee, who taught the principles of Natural Balance. The idea is the trim or shoe each foot individually, and in a way

that allows the proper motion and breakover for that foots mechanics. After Mission, I worked under one of Alaska's top farriers, Debbie Avritt, where I got even more practical working knowledge, and experiance. In addition, my parents are both Veterinarians, and i have worked with and attended AAEP, and Bluegrass Laminitis Symposiums, with my Mother, Dr. Julie Grohs, who specialises in Equine Podiatry. I Have also worked with Dr. Rick Redden of kentucky, and have attended two of his seminars on evaluating and utilizing radiographs of the Equine foot. I look forward to providing your horse with the care that it deserves.

Huge thank you to Oakhurst veterinary clinic, and Dr. Steve O’Grady for this amazing educational opportunity.
We learned a great deal about the appropriate application of wooden shoes “clogs”, treatment for white line disease, working with club feet, and management of angular limb deformities in young horses.

I appreciate everyone being patient with postponements during these icey conditions. I should be back up and running tomorrow, and will get everyone back on schedule

As many of you know, I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to volunteer with an amazing group of Equine health providers called the Equitarian Initiative. They have been doing webinars to highlight the work we’ve been doing, and the year end webinar was just released. Please give it a watch, share it to your horsey peeps, and consider donating to the cause! https://youtu.be/qeWxCpULo7U

Farriers are a special breed. A rare breed.
We sign up for a trade that will beat us down, cripple us, push us to our limits, make us suffer through extreme cold and heat, put up with rank horses because we know deep down it's not actually their fault, continually fix the same problem day after day, trim after trim, because no one else takes responsibility...
We forsake our own physical limitations and keep pushing. Our drive is what saves us, sets us apart and also sometimes what breaks us.
I've never met a tougher group of people with deeper hearts for the work they do. We continually learn, adapt and change to be the best and yet we don't ask for much. We just do our job. Sometimes it's thankless. Sometimes it's not worth the money. Sometimes we may want to quit. But we get up the next day and keep going.
I know old cowboys that take bute for their aches and pains, have been kicked, stomped, sent flying, sustained serious injuries and so much more. I myself have sustained injuries and repetitive motion injuries to my elbows and joints in my hands, but I keep going.
Some days are really good, and some days your heart breaks for the horse being put down that we tried so hard to fix.
It's an emotional, extremely physical artform that no one would understand until you put your heart and sole into some nippers, a knife and a rasp.

So honored to have the opportunity to work with this amazing organization!
Check them out at there website and please consider donating!!

As perhaps our program's most challenging working position, we want to thank our amazing farriers for all the hard work!

Thanks to them we can provide hundreds of animals with proper hoof care, and community & student education, avoiding significant issues in podiatry and overall functionality.
