Ideally, you should use a non-skid surface, hence is why I am standing on the bed, it was a little too slippery. You can use a blanket, a bath mat, dog bed, or a towel (it doesn’t matter). I was rewarding, Luna puppy every single time she put a foot on the target, eventually, she got all four paws on the target. After the video was over, she started offering this behavior without me playing the game. Daycare Puppies inside play time!

Playtime should involve gentle interactions like sniffing, chasing, and short bouts of rough play with appropriate redirection if needed. 🥰 Due to their short attention spans, puppies benefit from multiple short playtime sessions throughout the day! We do not want the puppies to become “overstimulated”, so breaks, nap time and time outs are necessary. This is the main reason we allow our Puppy STAR students to participate in puppy playtime as it is ALWAYS supervised and if needed we can step in. During our training sessions, we keep them short and sweet. We don’t want to try to teach to much to fast, that only leads to frustration, confusion, and loss of interest. Set your puppy up for success and don’t expect to much from them to soon, they are babies!
