We had a great time in our April vacation camps this week! Our teen riders worked on geometry in the dressage arena and controlling their aids to better influence the horse, practiced safely riding on the road, learned about the skeletal anatomy and conformation of the horse, learned about longlining, lungeing, equipment, and practiced some rider stretching. Our younger walk/trot riders worked on their balance, position, and body control on the horse, practiced identifying parts of the horse, practiced leading a horse through an obstacle course they designed themselves, identified brushes and used them for a scavenger hunt, helped clean paddocks, learned about what and how much horses eat, and practiced some rider stretches. We had a lot of fun with both groups and I think we were all thankful for the beautiful weather and sunshine!

We had a great time at junior camp! We learned how to be safe around horses and recognize their body language, had a scavenger hunt to learn about the different brushes, learned about parts of the horse, gave River a bath, learned some colors and markings and made collages to show our favorite colors, painted suncatchers, and met our farrier, Jerry Harriman, who taught us about hoof care. A hot couple of days, but lots of fun with a great group of kids! Huge thank you to our amazing camp teachers Ally and Katherine, and our wonderful helpers Rynn and Cayden! 🐴
