Important information about the salon and our services/ Frequently asked questions

About the Salon:
Opened in April 2021 by Reanna Brock and her husband Geoff Brock. Zen Spa for Dogs is a spa experience like no other directly catered to your furry best friends. We are located on highway 411 in downtown Etowah, directly next to the GEM theater. We focus on the dogs needs and comfortability first

and foremost. We have knowledge and experience in dealing with all breeds. Groomers:
Reanna has been grooming professionally since 2013. She specializes in comfort over looks. Her main goal is that your dog feels good! She is able to skillfully complete any grooming tasks such as: hand scissored clips, breed clips, training puppies to be groomed, special handling for senior pets and etc. She is unable to take any new large dog breed clients (over 30 pounds) due to physical restrictions. She grooms by appointments only Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Her phone number is 423-368-0783. Products and shampoos:
We use high quality shampoos and conditioners that are ph balanced for your dogs skin. We use cosmetic grade, luxury brands like Hydra and Chris Christensen. We have a variety of shampoos that we can select from for each pet depending on their skin, fur, and any allergies they may have. Our finishing sprays and colognes are also ph balanced specifically for dogs. Cancellation policy:
We ask that if you do need to cancel or reschedule your appointment that you please provide us with at least 24 hours of advanced notice. Services/Appointments:
We are a full service grooming salon that works by appointment only! Our full groom includes: a minimum of two baths with a Ph balanced shampoo for dogs that is specifically selected for your dogs skin and coat needs, moisturizing conditioning treatment, external a**l gland expression if necessary, nails clipped and filed, brushing, ear cleaning and plucking, and all over body haircut. We also can provide just a bath and brush, nail trims, or ear cleaning. Please call for an appointment! Walk in Nail trims:
We are able to take walk ins for nail trimming and filing only. Remember, Reanna is unable to accept dogs over 30 pounds. All dogs MUST be flea and tick free for a walk in service. Fleas/ticks:
Zen Spa for Dogs is a flea free environment. ALL dogs that come into the salon with fleas will be given an all natural flea bath to rid them of fleas. Flea baths are $5-$20 depending on the size of the dog. Ticks will be removed as long as they are not in excess. (Example a dog that lives outside covered in ticks (more than 10) needs to be seen by a vet not a groomer). These precautions are to ensure that our facility stays flea and tick free to keep all our clients comfortable and happy. Hours and appointments times:
Zen Spa for Dogs does not have set hours. We work by appointments only. This means we do not work a typical 9-5. Sometimes we work 8-1. Sometimes it’s 10-6. We ask that all clients pick up their pets in a timely manner. We will always call when they are almost ready. We typically take our first dogs at 8. Parking:
Parallel Parking can be found at the front of the building or the side of the building on 7th street. Due to limited parking We ask that you do not leave your vehicles parked in excess of 1 hour. Please remember to have your pet securely leashed. We are on a main, busy road. Wait times:
Turn around times for grooming or bathing appointments vary. Typically a small dog is finished within two to three hours. Large dog turn around times vary depending on coat type, service type, and temperament. If your pet is more difficult to groom, needs medicated or flea baths, or is in a longer "fancy" haircut, it will take longer. We absolutely do not rush on any services and pride ourselves in keeping the dogs grooming experience stress free and comfortable. Dematting/Detangling:
We at Zen Spa will not hurt a dog to please a person. We practice humanity before vanity. We will not perform extensive dematting to your pets. A few small tangles are fine we are trained to remove them without causing pain to your pet. But dematting is very painful and stressful to the dog. If your dog is matted, we will shave the matting out. Often times this means a very short haircut. It is your job as a pet parent to keep your dogs brushed and combed out at home so we can do the desired length. We can not undo weeks or months of improper brushing. If you are having trouble with brushing, we offer free lessons. Bedding and kennels:
We have various kennels, X Pens and clean soft bedding to keep your pets comfortable and safe while they are here at the salon. Drying:
We do not use dangerous enclosed kennel dryers. All our drying areas are open and well ventilated. All dogs will be hand dried or dried with comfortable air (fans with warm air) if they will not tolerate the hand dryer. Cleaning procedures:
We use pet friendly cleaning supplies, and disinfect all areas and equipment between each pet. Potty areas:
Please allow your pets to relieve themselves at home before their appointments. However, we do always walk them during their appointment stay. We have an enclosed grassy patio for them to potty that is only accessible by us.

Everyone mark your calendars for Saturday January 13th at 11:00 am! My salon is hosting a wellness event for your pups! We will have an animal chiropractor—Dr. Danielle Barron. An animal reiki practitioner—Ashley Greiger. And wonderful vegan, human grade cookies from Emily's Black Dog Bakery—Emily Jones.

This event is for any size dog and all information regarding information about animal chiropractic care and reiki work is below!

Animal chiropractic focuses on the health and well-being of our four legged friends. Just like humans, animals can experience misalignments in their spine or joints, which can lead to pain, discomfort, and reduced mobility. Animal chiropractors use gentle adjustments to correct these misalignments, helping to restore proper function and balance to the animal's body. The benefits of animal chiropractic include but are not only limited to pain relief, improved mobility, and enhanced athletic performance. It promotes an overall better quality of life for our furry friend. It's a natural and holistic approach to animal healthcare that can make a big difference!

A little bit about the Doctor:

Dr. Danielle Barron graduated from Parker University as Salutatorian, Magna Cum Laude in December 2018.
Prior to that, she attended Murray State University where she was on the collegiate rodeo team and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture.

Dr. Danielle is a chiropractor, as well as an animal chiropractor. She completed the ACES animal chiropractic course while attending Parker University and is board certified through the AVCA.

She has had years of hands on experience changing both humans and animals lives and is passionate about caring for your animal family members.

Animal adjustments are $50.

Hi!! Im Ashley, I am an Animal Reiki Practitioner. I also have 20 years of experience in the veterinary field.

Essentially, I allow animals to lead in healing sessions. During a Reiki session, animals often experience a deep state of peace as the Reiki clears imbalances, allowing for new and harmonious patterns of health and wellness to emerge.

Physical contact is not a requirement for Reiki, and traditionally, the practitioner offers Reiki to animals "hands off." This way, the animal controls the treatment, either accepting Reiki from a distance or settling themselves against the practitioners hands. Many people have unique experiences in connecting with and learning from the animals themselves, this is often communicated between the practitioner and the owner on the pets behalf. Though, every session differs.

The session length is determined by the pet’s tolerance to the session. Each session looks different because each animal is different. Some pets are very receptive to energy work and allow the practitioner to do a whole body routine. Others can tolerate only small doses of energy work, or the animal may only allow energy work to be done on certain parts of their body. The session could last only a few minutes or could go on for as long as half an hour. The animal will choose when, where, and how long they will receive a session.

I am happy to be a conduit through which energy can flow for the good to another life force.

"When we are in a true Reiki space, species differences melt away and profound
interspecies connections are forged." - Kathleen Prasad

Good morning all!
Reanna is currently booked solid until the first week of February. My books are still on hold for all new clients. If you’d like to remain on my books for 2024, I would very much recommend making several appointments at a time. I am currently doing 15 dogs daily to keep up with demand and I physically cannot continue to do this or I will be forced to give up my passion. That being said, appointments are on a first come first serve basis. I am only going to do about 8 dogs daily in the new year. I have about 150 people already wanting me to make their appointments for the whole year! If you’ve contacted me already about making appointments for the year, I am going down the list and making them as I have time to sit down and do so. If you would like to be on that list, please let me know. Also please remember I am having a price increase next year for ALL services. Thank you so much for the continued support and loyalty! 2024 is going to be a great year!

Grooming clients and friends with pets! This is a wonderful video that I hope can ease your mind about the respiratory disease that the media is covering. I was just at my vet last night having Edgar seen (he’s ok now thankfully). And both of my vets I normally see and the vet techs all said this is something that happens frequently. Even in this area. Prevention is key! I am screening all my clients before they come to the grooming salon and I have amped up my already very thorough sanitary procedures in the grooming salon. Please try to not worry! It is just as safe to get your dog groomed at my low volume salon now than it was a few months ago! ♥️ realistically most dogs have to be groomed to stay comfortable and healthy!

Attention to my clients with upcoming appointments!!!!

Due to a new uprise in a respiratory virus, I have implemented new procedures in my salon to help keep your dog and my other clients dogs safe and healthy. This is a serious illness that I do not take lightly. Thankfully, I have not heard of any of our pet friends in the area having this illness. However, please read below:

-This respiratory virus has been circulating for around 2 years according to my veterinarian. With a recent uptick in cases. It is an airborne illness that works much like human cold or flu. Spreading is made possible by droplets in the air. Not just direct contact.
-If your dog has been boarded , went to day care, a training facility, etc within the last 14 days, we ask that you reschedule your appointment at this time and quarantine your dog for 14 days.
-If your dog has been around any dogs that do not live full time in your home that have any symptoms of a respiratory illness (coughing, sneezing, eye discharge, nasal discharge, lethargy, fever), we ask that you reschedule your appointment at this time and quarantine your dog for 14 days.
-If your dog has a new cough, sneeze, eye or nose discharge, fever, or lethargy: we ask that you reschedule your appointment at this time and take your dog to the vet immediately. This illness is best managed with quick response by veterinary care. After infection, pets must be quarantined for 30 days after initial symptoms.
-Please come into the salon ON TIME to your appointment. This allows us adequate time in between pets to disinfect areas properly with RESCUE veterinary grade disinfectant. If you see another family with a dog in the lobby, please wait until they exit to enter.
-No dogs not within the same household will be allowed near each other. I have moved the salon around in order to keep distance between dogs.
-If your dog has any respiratory symptoms while at the salon, they will be sent home immediately.
-Please plan for prompt pick up. I will call 30 minutes before your dog(s) are ready. NO daycare will be provided at this time for the foreseeable future.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Hi friends, I’m sure you’ve heard about the reports about the canine respiratory illness that’s been on the news. I have also posted some information about it on this page. So far I’ve not heard of any of our pet friends coming down with this illness. Our state is not listed in the reports as one that has been affected as of yet.
‼️‼️However , With the holiday season here I will be asking any families with dogs that have been boarded to wait for 2 weeks before their dogs come in to be groomed. Also if your dog is showing ANY symptoms of respiratory illness (new cough, nasal discharge, sneezing, eye discharge) we ask that you keep them home at this time.‼️‼️

We try to be as low volume as possible which helps in this situation. We already take measures to ensure the salon is clean, sanitized, and disease free but will be taking extra measures during this time. However this illness is airborne and your dog can become affected simply from droplets in the air.
As always we encourage you to remain updated on all vaccinations including canine flu and kennel cough.
Thank you for trusting us with your pets!

Attention clients:
You may have seen this “mystery illness” that dogs are getting. I wanted to touch base on this on some things I do know that can help you stay informed and educated.
Any virus that a dog can catch like this is airborne. It transfers in the droplets in the air much like human cold and flus. If your dog goes to boarding, dog parks, daycare or even the groomer: they could potentially be exposed to a virus like this. Dogs can even shed these viruses without even showing symptoms. Some dogs will get this and some won’t. Just like humans.
If you’re dog comes down with this virus or similar, it’s just unlucky.
The best two things you can do right now for your dog is to keep them up to date on vaccines and do some research on things to help keep your dogs immune system strong! Sovereign silver is great for immunity boosting! Look into probiotics, supplements, etc to help keep your dog protected and just stay smart about this. If your dog develops a new sneeze, cough, nasal or eye discharge: go to the vet! AVOID taking your dog to the groomer, boarder, daycare etc if they are showing any symptoms like this. And remember, your dog can still get viruses and illnesses even if they are vaccinated! A vaccine just lessens the symptoms and reduces time they are ill.
In 2020 when the pandemic was in full swing: you didn’t stay home unless you were immune compromised. You took precautions. The same principle applies to your dogs 😊
We also take very careful measures to keep our salon clean and disinfected between pets! ♥️
