Belle is back with us, where she will forever be loved and remembered. Her story touched countless hearts, and while her time here was brief, her impact will last a lifetime.

She now watches over the clinic as a reminder of why we do what we do—to bring love, care, and compassion to every animal who comes into our clinic. Belle will always be a part of our family, and her memory will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Last week’s visitors brought all the warm fuzzies to chase away the cold, and we loved every wag, purr, and happy hop through our doors! ❄️🐾 With the weather getting chillier, we’re ready to cozy up with this week’s furry friends. Say hello to Penny, the sweetest little pup who brightened our day yesterday! 🐾💖 At just 5.8 lbs of pure cuteness, she’s mastered the art of zoomies and stealing hearts. Her favorite treat? Turkey tendons, of course! 🦴We loved having this sweet girl for her first visit and we can’t wait to see her adorable face again soon! 🐶💕

Last week was full of adorable faces and wagging tails, including a visit from Potato, the sweetest and most charismatic kitten, who came in for his boosters and charmed everyone he met! 🐾🐱 We’re back open tomorrow and ready to see who’s coming through our doors this week. Meet Teddy, who briefly stepped in as a temporary receptionist recently while his parents checked out after his appointment. Even though his shift was short, he brought big smiles and made our day! His only demands? Belly rubs, treats, and maybe a nameplate on the desk next time!

🐾Belle Angel Fund🐾
Many of you asked to donate something to her honor. As a veterinary clinic, not a rescue or nonprofit, we’ve never had a need for this type of fund before. While we don’t typically take on critical cases like a rescue might and we aren’t an animal ER, this fund will allow us to help when an animal in need come to us whether abandoned at our clinic like Belle or when critical situation arises, but their owners are facing financial hardship.

The timing of this has been challenging, as it happened on our last day in the office before our Christmas break. Without access to our phones during the break, we’ve set up an alternative way to accept donations. If you’d like to contribute to Belle’s Angel Fund, please email [email protected] with your contact information. When we reopen on January 2nd (or are able to check emails beforehand), we’ll reach out to process your donation and provide a receipt.

‼️‼️More importantly, we ask that you continue to share Belle’s story. There is still a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for abandoning her. Someone out there knows where Belle came from. Contact Euclid Police Department if you have any tips‼️‼️

Belle’s story has touched so many hearts. Her heartbreaking situation has shined a light on the importance of helping animals in need and the incredible compassion of the community.

We are grateful to share that we were also notified about an anonymous $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the individual who abandoned Belle. If you have any information, please contact the Euclid Police Department.

We are receiving a lot of questions about the Angel Fund that was created to honor Belle’s memory. This fund will help other critical cases that come into our clinic whether abandoned at our clinic like Belle or in desperate critical care that we can help. We’re working on a system to accept donations for that fund and will share those details soon.

Belle’s story has been a difficult one to tell, but her legacy is already creating a ripple of kindness and hope. Thank you for helping us as a team honor her memory and turn her tragedy into something meaningful. Belle mattered, and while this was heartless…at least she was at a place that she would be found and was loved, and will always be remembered.

For a few hours Friday, a dog abandoned in the dumpster area of the Lakeland Animal Clinic in Euclid felt love one last time.

A Heartbreaking Start to Our Day: Remembering Belle

This morning, we were heartbroken to discover a dog, whom we’ve named Belle, wrapped in a towel and left near our dumpster against the fence. She was sort of hidden away and clearly in distress. Her temperature was dangerously low at 92°F, and she was severely dehydrated, with a raging ear infection, toe nails that were curled under and elevated kidney levels. We immediately began supportive care, providing fluids, medications, and warmth. Belle briefly showed signs of improvement, becoming more alert, but she remained unable to move her legs or respond to touch.

We suspected a spinal issue, possibly a ruptured disc, but despite our best efforts, it became clear that her condition was irreversible, and she was suffering. Belle passed peacefully, surrounded by love and care.

We’ve been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and calls for donations. One at a time k9, who generously offered to assist Belle, asks that donations be directed to cover her care today, including her cremation. Her ashes will return to us, and she will always be remembered as part of our clinic family.

To continue supporting animals like Belle, we’ve created an “Angel Fund,” soon to be renamed in her honor, which will provide financial aid for critical cases in our care. Alternatively, donations can be made directly to One at a Time K-9 Rescue to support their ongoing medical efforts for other animals in need.

Thank you to everyone who has shown kindness and compassion for Belle. Her story will always remind us of the power of love and community.

Well, we found Dr. Jinglepaws this morning in what can only be described as a self-inflicted sugar coma. After raiding our candy drawer (which we thought was for the staff), he’s now passed out in a face mask hammock between the gingerbread houses like he’s on some tropical holiday. Guess we’ll add ‘candy thief’ to his growing résumé of bad decisions.

We would like to thank everyone who donated to our Giving Tree for One at a Time K-9 Rescue. Tonight, they were able to pick up all the goodies, and this was only half of the goodies that is pictured! They even brought adorable Mae who came from a hoarding situation in Euclid and was first seen by Dr. Malak before going to rescue and later became a foster fail:)

They take on some of the hardest, or most complicated medical cases that would be turned away otherwise. They do amazing work with puppy mill dogs, or those who have truly had a broken spirits and gave them hope again. We couldn’t be more grateful to every single one of you that donated, know it was very well appreciated and we have no doubt will go to good use! Thank you again for helping us give back this season.

We walked in this morning to find Dr. Jinglepaws and his assistant investigating Miranda’s dog Cai’s “stuffed” moose under the X-ray. What’s the diagnosis? Too many holiday snacks? A tinsel binge? Or maybe just a case of being “literally stuffed”…….Whatever it is, Cai seems curious over his buddy, and the elves are taking this ‘research’ very seriously. Someone tell them toy moose don’t need medical charts!
