🌱Happy February, gardeners!🌱 Many of us are eager to get out and work in the garden and February is a great time to lay the groundwork for a healthy & prosperous growing season. This month's garden to-do list includes:

-Plant seed flats of cole crops (cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and Brussels sprouts), indoors or in a greenhouse.
-Sow snap peas and snow peas directly in the garden now through April if soil is workable and not too wet.
-Select and store healthy scion wood for grafting fruit and nut trees. Prune and train grapes; make cuttings.
-Prune fruit trees and blueberries.
-Fertilize rhubarb with manure or a complete fertilizer.
-Incorporate cover crops or other organic matter into soil at least two weeks before planting your garden.

Early spring! So says Fil.

Across the country, Feb. 2 is known as Groundhog Day, when the namesake critter forecasts whether Americans will see six more weeks of winter or an early spring. But because groundhogs don’t live in Oregon, the Oregon Zoo enlists the state animal to do the forecasting — a beaver named Filbert.

Hello Eugene & Springfield: I hope that you won't need to use this advice, but if you do need to make a claim on your insurance, it is important to do so in a timely manner. Insurance agents are working very long days to help out their clients, so it may take a bit for them to get back to you.

Here's some information from the state of Oregon on insurance that you may find helpful. Your insurance may cover the costs of temporary housing, laundry, restaurant meals, and pet boarding, through additional living expenses (ALE).

“I looked everywhere for someone I could trust to sell my family home of many years.I met Ellen and felt comfortable with her right away. Ellen explained everything that was going to happen. She told me what I needed to do to sell, Ellen did what needed to be done and then some. I thought about selling my house myself and I am so glad I didn't, Ellen was there for me every step of the way.”
