BUDDY HAS BEEN REHOMED

Buddy’s owner has just passed away and he is needing to find a new home before the weekend (Aug 24th).

Buddy is a 3 year old playful chi mix who weighs about 8 pounds. He is energetic and gets along with everyone including other dogs. He likes to sleep with his human and is said to be house trained. Buddy is located in Roseburg.

Buddy has been rehomed.

Monty is available for adoption.

Monty is a very sweet and affectionate wire haired terrier. He is approximately 5 years old and weighs 8.5 pounds, although he should probably weigh closer to 9-10 pounds.

Monty is great with both dogs and cats, basically ignoring the cats in his current foster home. When left alone, he barks for a minute but otherwise has no separation anxiety.

Monty is a companion dog who likes to follow his person and sleep with his person at night. He appears to have had basic training in the past and he likes to “sit pretty” for treats. Monty is on no medications.

Monty is working on his house training still and will need a patient and understanding person to encourage him to learn to use the outdoor bathroom. He is treat motivated so that should help with the house training.

Monty is available for adoption. He is approximately 5 years old and is a wire haired type terrier. Monty weighs 8.5 pounds and is great with both dogs and cats. Monty loves all humans and is a Velcro dog who likes to sleep with his person.

Happy Friday!

We have great news about our foster, Kokua!

Kokua is a medical dog with high kidney numbers. Kokua has been on a prescription food for the last 6 months. A recent vet visit and bloodwork revealed that the two numbers that the vet has been monitoring for the last 6 months are both within the normal range now. Additionally, Kokua has regained his eyesight and his foster states "he now acts like a 15-year-old puppy".

We are beyond excited that the prescription food has been life-changing for Kokua. Life saving, actually.

Kokua does still have some skin allergies and so we would like to switch him from the chicken recipe to the beef recipe.

This food is spendy and it is prescription only. This is a food that Kokua will need to stay on for the rest of his life. If you would like to donate towards Kokua's food costs, it would be much appreciated. Any amount helps and we thank you and Kokua thanks you.

Today we are featuring our special needs dogs.

These are our seniors who have age-related sight and hearing disabilities that are in need of a long-term foster or adopter. It is important to remember that a blind and deaf dog is able to use other senses to get around and generally these dogs adjust just fine to their environment. In a new environment, it would be best to start out with a small area so the dog can learn the footprint of the area. These dogs are just as loving and sweet as dogs with no sight and hearing disabilities. These dogs may take longer to find the perfect adopter so a long-term foster commitment is required but the rescue pays for all expenses while the foster is in your care.

Mort is too cute!

Mort is an adorable old man that would love a lap to snuggle on. He is good with cats but can be grouchy with dogs. He does have congestive heart failure and takes a daily medication for that as well as an eye medication. Do you have a spot on your couch for this handsome little guy?

Marla is a Cavalier King Charles mix who gets along well with other dogs, she does not really interact with them and she is a very quiet dog. She is about 8-9 years old and she loves car rides and short walks. She is completely housebroken and will alert you when she needs to go out. She prefers to sleep on the floor next to her person’s bed. She would do great in an apartment setting because she is so quiet.

This is Haus!

Haus is a chiweenie and is about 10 years old and weighs approximately 12 pounds. Haus is a very active and playful senior who does not look or act his age, he has no health problems. He can be fearful around new people but once he trusts you, he is all yours. Haus loves to cuddle and insists on sleeping right next to you. He is food and attention motivated. He does have a bit of separation anxiety so someone who is home more than not would be best for Haus.

Meet Simone. Simone is looking for a foster or adopter.

Simone is about 9-10 years old and weighs about 12 pounds. She is good with dogs, cats, and we expect she would be good with children. She is a very easy-going girl who loves to go on walks and is great on the leash. Simone does not bark or pull on the leash when passing other dogs. Although not a cuddler, she does love to have her belly rubbed. She is housebroken and does her business when on walks. Simone is a wonderful dog!

Buster is still looking for a foster.

Buster - about 12 years young and approximately 10 pounds. He is mostly blind but oh so cute!

Copied below is what Buster's current foster has to say about his personality.

Buster is a very energetic dog for his age who loves walks. He loves attention but at the same time likes to have his space. He is playful. He does well with other dogs, just doesn't like other dogs to rough play with him. He is currently an inside dog and just goes out to walk and to use the restroom. Buster doesn't really bark unless he feels you're in his face or other dogs are rough playing with him but he can also bark when he is being playful. He is good with other dogs as long as the other dogs are calm. He hasn't interacted with cats, so I don't know how he is with them. Buster does sleep through the night. He sleeps in his bed inside a crate. He is not p*e pad trained, he goes outside.

He sees shadows in the light and can't see in the dark. I think he is ready for his forever home but the people need to have patience with him. I believe because of his age and even the life he might have had before, it is really hard for him to trust and to open up, but he is a really good dog.

Still looking for his forever home is Jet, pictured here. Please spread the word about this precious little dog as he has been patiently waiting for his forever home. Jet is the perfect little companion dog for almost any living situation. He is incredibly affectionate, gives kisses, and loves kids. Jet is also completely house trained.

Jet had a dental cleaning 2 weeks ago and his bloodwork looked good, The vet gave him a clean bill of health.

Although currently living in a home with 6 other dogs, Jet does prefer to be the only pet in the home.

Thank you to everyone who shared our post yesterday and offered to foster so that we can bring some dogs up from California next week. We would love to find a foster for Marla. Marla is a Cavalier King Charles mix who currently lives in a home with a lot of other dogs and does just fine, she does not really interact with them and she is a very quiet dog. She would do great in an apartment setting because she is so quiet. If you think Marla might fit well in your home and you would like to either foster or adopt, please let us know so that she can come to Oregon next week too!

We have an opportunity to bring some of our California dogs up to Oregon next week but we are in desperate need of fosters.

If you live in Lane or Douglas Counties of Oregon, please consider fostering today. The rescue will provide everything needed and all vetting expenses are covered by the rescue as well. The foster’s only job is to provide a secure and loving temporary home while we look for a permanent home. We do ask that the foster commit to the dog until the dog finds his forever home.
