TLDR: Moving locations and raising prices

Hey everyone! I know I've been quiet on here for quite some time now. Things are starting to come together, and I'll have a few updates rolling out over the next few weeks!

As most of you know I will be moving locations here soon! I'll make an entirely separate post with all the needed details when that happens. For now I need to touch base about why this is happening, how it's happening, and the changes to expect from this transition.

I started this business in a way that made total sense at the time, with a very clear plan ahead of me. I've never been much of a business person.. I enjoy working with dogs, having good relationships with people, and helping when I can. Unfortunately, my situation has drastically changed and I'm being faced with some new financial realities. If I want this business to be sustainable I have very few options on the table for how to move forward. Renting a commercial space would force me to operate in a way that conflicts with my ideals and I can't do that. I'm being offered a stepping stone by an amazing woman who is literally saving this business with her kindness and generosity ❤️ this is not a long term solution though, and I need to be thinking about my next steps. Ultimately, I need to purchase a home within the next few years that can double as a grooming shop, similar to what I've had going on thus far. In order to do this I need to be bringing in more money. So here are my two options.. Either I schedule more dogs at one time, or I charge more for the one on one services I'm currently providing. Most of you have found me because you needed a one on one shop, and to be honest this is definitely my preference as well. In reality, this is something people typically charge much more for. I know a shop with a $90 base price for small dogs in downtown Eugene. My prices have started typically at $60 sometimes less. Unfortunately that is not sustainable for me anymore. I understand that not everyone needs one on one, and not everyone can afford a price increase and if you've been a long time client of mine I'm more than happy to discuss this so we can keep working together. Some of you may need to find a more affordable option and I completely understand and don't take offense.

My plan is to give you all a buffer to make a decision after your next appointment. I'll groom your dog one more time at our current rate, and let you know what to expect next time before you leave. I'm expecting about a $10 increase on most dogs unless I'm already charging you more than my base price. Also. Keep in mind that there is no expectation for you to leave a tip on top of this. If you can afford it and you want to, that's okay, but I am not offended and have no expectations for tips, especially after this change.

Some people have been asking me about the virus that's going around in dogs recently and I just want to check in with you all a little bit.

I always ask that we reschedule if your dogs are showing any signs of illness, especially right now.

I only ever groom one family of dogs at a time and I clean in between appointments. I am being even more cautious about this lately and I'm asking that you help me with this. Please do not come early or pick up too late.

These are the cleaning products I use if anyone is curious. The kennel sol is used to mop the floor multiple times a day and sprayed on commonly used surfaces daily. The hyrpistine is used constantly throughout the day for general cleaning, and the blade spray is used between dogs.

If you're extra anxious let me know and I'll see how else I can help you feel safe or give you tips for at home maintenance until you feel safe.

Hey lovely people, I will be making a post here soon about new policies I'll be implementing as we move into the new year, as well as some local resources, and offerings. For now I just want to let you all know that last minute cancelations have been really amplified lately with holidays, illnesses, financial stress etc. I COMPLETELY understand why this is happening and I'm not upset with anyone, but it's been taking a toll on the business. Please give me a 48 hour warning before canceling, and if possible, please try to reschedule right away. If this continues to be a problem I may have to implement a cancelation fee in the future, and I really don't want to have to do that 🙏 thank you!

This is Jim! Jim has a deformed leg and is unable to walk. He's learning how to use a wheelchair, and I'm learning how to build them 😆 I'm hopeful that Jim will regain his strength and then we will be looking for a permanent home for him. Juniper was feeling great after her bath today 😊

Poppy is 10.5 years old and her mom has been grooming her since she was 1 because she's pretty nervous in a grooming environment. She decided to let me give it a try and I had a great time earning poppy's trust 😊 Fortunately she's very treat motivated and as soon as she realized she could "work" for treats, she knew exactly what to do (thanks to her mom who's done a great job with her)! We skipped the most stressful part for her (the bath) and just worked on gaining trust. I have faith we will get through the whole thing next time!
