“This week for Gene’s Dogs I want to update you all on our girl Zoey. Zoey was one of the mighty munchkin mites and was adopted over a year ago. All of the staff remembers playing with this sweet girl as a puppy and we were very happy to see her go to a home. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago she returned due to no fault of her own. When she first came back she was terrified and cowered if anyone approached her. We don’t know what happened, but we did know she needed help. After a few weeks of loving care: this is Zoey today! She still has a way to go, but she is learning to trust and the staff will be constantly working with her to bring her back to the loving, sweet dog we know she is. Zoey does like the company of other dogs, we don’t know about cats. When she is ready for adoption, she will probably do best in a home without children. Come see Zoey 7 days a week at Good Shepherd Humane Society from 12-5pm!”

“This week for Gene’s Dogs, I’m choosing to do a cuteness overload. These two little monkeys are Unicorn and Pegasus. They look like two lab mix puppies, however, as I’ve always done my research, I have determined that they are a rare breed of Eureka Springs Magical Mystical dogs. They are completely capable of capturing your hearts! They will work their magical powers on you until you can’t resist making them a part of your home. They seem to be dog friendly, we don’t know yet about cats or children. As always, a polite introduction to a potential adopters children and pets is needed. Unicorn and Pegasus are available for adoption now, come by Good Shepherd 7 days a week from 12-5 and let them cast their spell on you.”

“This week on Gene’s Dogs, I want to introduce you to Duke. Some people call him “Dude,” but, as you will see, I like to call him Duke. He is a whippet mix, about 1 year old. He’s very friendly and has lots of puppy energy. I have done my research and found that he comes from the Eureka Springs Earldom so he is truly the Duke of Earl. He even has his own theme song! 🎶 Duke, Duke, Duke of Earl, Duke, Duke 🎶 He is dog friendly, we don’t know about cats or children. This week’s Gene’s Dogs is bringing you Anakin, on the surface he is a five-year-old medium boxer mix, however, we have discovered that he is a living breathing Northwest Arkansas Star Wars figure. He is looking for someone to join him on his interplanetary adventures. He loves his walks and even more loves to cuddle. He lost his home through no fault of his own and would just love a safe place to rest his head before going on another universal adventure. “This week for Gene’s Dogs I want to talk about two sides of what we see here at Good Shepherd. These little guys are what I have dubbed my “Eureka Springs Mighty Munchkins.” They are small and full of love and ready to go to their furever homes. They will all be adopted soon. It is one of the joys of being here, interacting with these babies and to see them off to their furever families.
The other side of this is this girl, Zoey, about a year and a half ago she went home to what she thought would be her furever home. Now, she is back through no fault of her own. I remember playing with this sweet girl when she was a “Eureka Springs Mighty Munchkin” and now she is scared and withdrawn. We don’t know what caused this, but be assured she will be treated with kindness and love by the staff and volunteers. We will bring her back to herself. Hopefully, in a few weeks she will be ready to find another loving family. Come visit Zoey at Good Shepherd, 7 days a week from 12-5pm!”

This week for Gene’s dogs we are on a field trip to see Officer Angel Rodriguez at Green Forest Animal Control. I want you to meet Gibbs, Gibbs may look like an Anatolian Shepherd / husky mix, but he is actually a rare Green Forest blue eyed water dog. This boy is kid, dog, and cat friendly, and loves baths. It is hard to believe the sweet dog has been here over 400 days. Please come out to Green Forest Animal Control and visit Gibbs. He needs an adopter, a foster, or even just someone who will visit and take this good boy for a walk. Call Officer Rodriguez at 870-4-8020 18 and he will arrange a meet and greet.

This week for Gene’s Dogs I want to introduce you to Rukia, she looks like an adorable medium sized mixed breed, but I’ve done some research and have discovered that she is actually a very rare mix. She is a speckle pawed lap cuddler and also a Eureka treat hound. She is very addicted to butt rubs and will be happy just to cuddle with you all day. She is very good with children, other dogs, and cats, as always, a polite introduction to a potential adopters children and other animals is necessary.
