UPDATE: A medical foster has been found, thank you for all of the offers. If you are still interested in fostering there are three heartworm positive dogs at the shelter who need to find fosters in order to be treated. And thank you to everyone who has donated and/or shared this post. We couldn't do it without the support we receive from the community. ❤️

If you donated to the go fund me originally posted, the shelter in Humboldt, Iowa reached out and forwarded the donations that they had received as well as a donation from the director. 🥰

Sophie and her other shelter friends need your HELP! Sophie was turned over to our animal control department after being found injured on Highway 299 due to falling out of/from a vehicle. Sophie has a fractured jaw, the gingiva of her upper palate (roof of the mouth) has separated exposing the nasal cavity to the mouth. In addition to these injuries, she has suffered a life of neglect. The condition of her ears suggest long-term chronic ear infections resulting in polyps. She has some significant dental disease, she is unspayed and has a mammary mass. She is somewhere between 10 and 12 years old and has a lot of life, s***k and love to give. Donations are needed to help fund her path to recovery.
Donations can be made to the Shelter's Emergency Medical Fund (SEMF) which is managed by Friends for Life Animal Rescue via mail at PO Box 962, Eureka, CA 95502; online at www.dogrescuers.org via PayPal please specify donations are for the SEMF

Any funds collected during this campaign that are not spent treating Sophie will be used to treat her other shelter companions who are in need of medical procedures such as heartworm treatment, orthopedic surgeries, and other procedures that exceed the $300 maximum allowed by the county budget.

Friends For Life helps Nora find a forever home.

BLACK CAT FRIDAY!

This is Nora. She’s 15+ years-old and blind. Nora was found looking very lost and confused on the streets of Eureka. The finder then realized she was blind and whisked her off to the county animal shelter. Not wanting Nora to waste away in the shelter, Friends for Animal Rescue contacted us.

And the rest is history.

Thank you, Friends for Animal Rescue, for getting Nora here to SNAP Cats!

SNAP Cats uses Smart Cat, all natural cat litter.

Seraphina (aka Sera) is a sweet soul. Clearly part Siamese, she has tabby striping on her face and tail, and is quite beautiful. Sera wants to be close to her human at all times and is a lovely, gentle companion. She is very interested in other cats and gets along well with the dog in her foster home. Sera would like a forever home with a person who she can spend time with. If you are looking for a cat who will be great company, Sera may be for you!

Join us in celebrating our Animal Care and Control staff during National Appreciation Week! These hardworking folks respond to all kinds of situations from abandoned animals and strays to cases of neglect or hoarding in the field. From the Humboldt County Animal Shelter:

Lately, it seems that there is always a new animal brought to the shelter that is in need of extensive veterinary care.

Young Presley is one of those critters. 🐶 🐾Three month old Presley (previously named Coco), was hit by a car in Arcata on 9/30/23. If Presley had been kept secured on a leash, this all could have been prevented. He suffered a fractured femur that would either need pins/plates to repair the fracture or it would need to be amputated. While receiving care at Arcata Animal Hospital, the staff was able to contact a traveling orthopedic surgeon that said that he believed that the fracture could be successfully pinned/plated. Arrangements were made and he had surgery on 10/5/23.

The overall expenses for his care to this point are approximately $4,500. 💸💲

The majority of his treatment is being paid for through the Shelter's Emergency Medical Fund that is managed by Friends for Life.

You can donate to his medical expenses or the expenses of other shelter animals in need by donating online at www.dogrescuers.org (please specify the emergency medical fund or EMF), via PayPal or be mailed to Friends for Life, PO Box 962, Eureka, CA 95502 or dropped off at the shelter.

It takes a village to save animal lives. Please please share this post. 💕🤞
