National Black Dog Day is celebrated on October 1st each year to raise awareness of the challenges black dogs face in finding homes and to encourage their adoption. Black dogs can be just as loyal, loving, and full of potential as dogs with lighter coats, but they often face challenges such as:
-Being overlooked by potential adopters
-Negative portrayals in the media
-Not standing out in online photos
-Being perceived as "ordinary"
-Having the lowest adoption rate and highest euthanasia rate in shelters

Here are some ways to celebrate National Black Dog Day:
-Adopt a black dog
-Visit a shelter and take a potential companion for a walk
-Give your black dog extra attention
-Take a longer walk or bring home a chew toy
-Share photos of your black dog on social media using
-Donate time or money to a shelter
-Share information to help black dogs find homes

Daisy is one of our newest bath clients here at Prestige Pet Grooming. She hadn't let her parents wash her so I had the honor of getting her scrubby dubby clean for them. She was such a sweet thing but HATED the blow dry process, so I did what she let me and her mom let Daisy use her cat siblings dryer at home so she wouldn't be so scared.
