Clinic life lately 🩺 ⚕️
As we head into the holidays and wrap up another year, our team at Echo Ridge is sending so much appreciation and love to our clients, patients, and community.
Working in medicine is hard, and there are some awful days, but there are also days we laugh and get to to have the best time with our patients, their owners, and eachother.
Trying to make a difference, one patient at a time ❤️

**PSA - Important Please Read**
To our wonderful clients and community we want to inform you we had a canine patient test positive for leptospirosis.
Leptospirosis is a bacteria carried by wildlife and excreted in their urine.
This disease is ZOONOTIC - meaning it is contagious to humans.
This case has been reported to the state department of health as well as local health departments.
Dogs can be vaccinated for leptospirosis and we highly encourage our clients to get their dogs vaccinated.

Today's shoutout goes to our phenomenal receptionist Jamie!
This gal handles majority of our phone calls, emails, checking patients in and out, all back end paperwork, prescription requests, client communications, and so many other things.
It takes a special person to work reception in veterinary medicine, and Jamie does it with absolute poise and always a smile!

This week is national veterinary technician week!
While we do celebrate our entire staff, today's shout out goes to our licensed veterinary technicians.
These gals have done years of schooling, passed national and state board exams, and maintained continuing education.
They take an oath to be the voice for their patients and continue to hold themselves to high standards in our profession.
Give them a shoutout! We couldn't do what we do without them 👏👏👏

Behind the scenes look at what it takes to look at ears on dogs and cats.
Our wonderful staff is trained in safe restraint methods that keep both ourselves and our patients safe while we look at the ear drum and perform ear cleanings or foreign body removals.
Fun fact - Dr.Barker is our #1 cheat grass remover at the clinic!

Echo Ridge is happy to announce we are offering FREE rabies vaccines until November!

September 28th is World Rabies Day.
While we usually like to spread awareness, this year we want to do even more in helping keep pet(s) protected against rabies.
Recently Spokane County had a bat test positive for rabies. This is concerning to our pets that may come into contact with potential rabid bats.
Did you know that the only way to test your pet for rabies is to remove the entire head and send it to the state lab for testing?!
The best option to prevent that is to ensure your pet is kept up to date on rabies vaccination.
It is also WA state law to have animals vaccinated: https://apps.leg.wa.gov/wac/default.aspx?cite=246-100-197
For the rest of September and ALL of October we are offering FREE rabies vaccines.
*Exam fees or assistant fees will be charged if applicable*
Please call us to get scheduled or with any questions.
Please share and lets all do our part to protect the animals of our community.

Show and tell time
Cass is holding a vertebrae of a bowhead whale - estimated to have been 200 years old!

Dr. Soule brings in all sorts of awesome things and teaches us something new from her travels and time spent working in the arctic.
Did you know, the whales 'cushion' between their vertebrae is actually fibrous?!
