Spaying and neutering provide numerous health and behavioral benefits. Spaying prevents life-threatening uterine infections, greatly reduces risk for breast cancer, and prevents unwanted pregnancy. Neutering prevents prostatic enlargement, testicular cancer, and undesirable behaviors such mounting, marking, and aggression. We recommend spaying at 8 weeks or older and neutering at 8 weeks or older as long as both testicles are present at that age.
