3.5 years ago we took in 42 cats from a hoarder house after a fire at the residence. We named them after Baskin Robbins Ice Cream flavors and they became known collectively as the Ice Cream Cats. Most of them were adopted over the next few months but about a dozen of them were under socialized and while they never minded the consistent food and clean living space, they preferred their space so obviously it has taken longer to find them new homes. When we moved to the new facility in October there were still 4 Ice Cream cats with us. We were delighted when Rum Raisin was the very first animal to be adopted from our new building. We took this as a good omen!

Yesterday, a pair of heroes came through our doors. This mother and daughter duo were looking for a bonded pair and were happy to take a couple of cats that might be harder to place. They gravitated toward the Ice Cream cats and when they heard their story and that there were only three left they couldn't imagine just taking two and leaving one sole survivor alone. SO THEY TOOK ALL THREE!!! After 3.5 years with us Rock n Pop Swirl, World Class Chocolate and Mama's Makin' Cookies are finally home ❤️❤️❤️❤️

We like to say we are More Than a Shelter and we think we've earned the title. We never gave up hope that all of these cats would find heroes and we committed to let them stay in our care for as long as it took. The shelter isn't going to be the same without them, but we’re so happy they got the second chance they needed and deserves! ❤️

‼️Attention everyone: Cuteness overload‼️
Ori and Nori are looking for their hero. They are in urgent need of a home where they can relax and be their true fun-loving selves. Please don't swipe past this lovely pair of sweet kittens!

This is a very special pair of bonded girls who have a whole lotta love and playfulness in their hearts. They aren't even a year old, but have experienced a lot in their little lives already. They survived a difficult kittenhood and while they are healthy now, Ori has some ongoing health compromises, which means she needs to be on medication and needs to be carefully monitored. Despite these concerns, she is the sweetest, most playful lovebug you ever could meet. She and her sister are bonded and need a home together with no other cats.

If you can be their hero, they will give you hours of joy and fun and you will be helping to give them the safe space they need to thrive! Shelter life is stressful for them and they urgently need to be in a home where they can relax and be healthy.

This upcoming Giving Tuesday, we're thankful for supporters who help us save cats like Polaris.

Polaris came to us broken, neglected, and in dire need. She needed love, she needed patience, and she needed a heck of a lot of medical care.

With a critically injured leg and her whole life ahead of her, we knew we had to go the extra mile. This tiny kitten was on death's door. Infection was taking over her body and slowly eating away at what was left of her. While under our care, she had her leg amputation, meds, a warm foster home, and made a full recovery.

She now spends her days lounging around a beautiful home with a beautiful family including cat and dogs siblings. This wouldn't have been possible without supporters like you!

Yes, this is little Moonpie with the big wide eyes searching for that special someone to take a shine and fall in love with him. He is 6-8 months old and can be a little reserved, but as soon as he feels a warm lap, he's full of purrs and love. He could get used to living with another cat, but may prefer to be your one and only.

The rescue world is in code red. There is no other way to say it.

Animals are coming in faster than we can find homes. They’re being abandoned, left behind, treated horribly, and we’re here to pick up the pieces.

We know, understand, and empathize that humans are also going through a rough time and try our best to help those who want the help. But we are also tired and sad and frustrated. Maybe it’s just one of those weeks where it’s heavier than others, but like most of our fellow shelters/rescues we are feeling insane amounts of pressure heading into the holiday season. We’ll take it like champs and we’ll keep doing what we do, but we NEED fosters and adopters to help us help our population.

We have 20 large dogs, some have been with us a year (or in and out of our system for years), some have been with us a day, but all of them deserve a shot at the good life and we will do everything we can to not let them down. Yes, most of them need some extra training. Yes, some of them need to be only dogs. No, none of them are some rare or elusive breed. Just a bunch of mixed breed mutts that need a chance.

These days, we place an animal and two more come in. It’s not slowing down and it’s not letting up. We have a waitlist of surrenders growing by the day and strays coming in like crazy. If you have ever considered taking home a pet, PLEASE support a rescue or shelter. Our shelter will support you as much as possible through the process because we want successful placements.

We have been O. B. S. E. S. S. E. D. with Dave since he came to us in March of 2023!!! This absolute hunk came to us a shell of what he is now thanks to a foster home who’s had him for the past 10 months but we all agree it’s time Dave found his ✨forever✨! We really are baffled that he hasn’t had interest. This boy is the perfect mix of brains and brawn, plus he’ll keep you young with his silly little antics like going into the bathroom while your showering just to fart and then leave. Basically a forever teenager minus the attitude and he’ll always show you he loves you! Our current population is the highest it’s been in months. We’re a small shelter that filled up its kennels in the past two days and adopting dogs like Dave helps us move another into a foster home. So PLEASE consider taking this lug home! Dave needs to be an only animal, but he’s all you’ll ever need. We promise! ❤️

The kittens are coming, the kittens are coming!! It's kitten season, and our first duo of available kittens is ready for their debut . . . and, boy, are they ever ready for a loving family to take them home and play, play play!! Samwise and Ragtime were both brought to the shelter as single kittens, but they have teamed up to be quite a pair. They look like long-lost siblings that have been reunited! We've had surprisingly few kittens come to us this spring, but that is changing, and we have a number in foster just waiting until they are ready to go home with you! This pair, Samwise (M) and Ragtime (F), are ready to go home today, so please stop in to 611 South Blvd this Saturday between 12 and 3pm (or risk waiting until Wednesday between 5 ans 8pm) to meet them. They won't be here for long! Can you resist these sweet tabby faces?❤️❤️❤️
