Hi everyone!

Our new partnership with Cook County has brought us animals from far and wide so we wanted to make a page dedicated to trying to reunite them with their families. We will also post the local animals found for the same reason ❤️

We will post as much information as we can, but sometimes all we know is that they were left on site with us.

Please share this page with everyone you know, on various pages, and like to follow! We couldn’t do this without you!

We're so excited to announce the first of a monthly series we are calling Neighbor Nights. Our new community room enables us to bring in experts to discuss animal related topics. We hope you will come join us for the first session, which will feature Officer Perry Kubala. We work closely with Officer Kubala every day and we thought you might like to know more about what she does and how she interacts with both the community and the shelter. Leroy the puppy is spending the first day of 2025 snuggling up in a foster home with a chew the size of himself and we couldn’t be happier!

This little nugget is available for adoption! He’s as cute as he is smart-he already knows sit at barely 14 weeks old! He’ll be with us during adoption hours this Saturday and Sunday from 1-4, let’s find him his forever!

Nutmeg wishes everyone a very Happy Hanukah, while he reminds his adopters why they switched from an old family menorah with candles to a newfangled battery operated one! Nutmeg and his brother Houdini were adopted after their previous owners could no longer care for them when their health deteriorated. It isn't easy for adult cats to be adopted, especially as a pair, but their adopters couldn't bare to split up the bonded brothers with their magnificent plume-like tails. They are living happily together in their new home. Do you have a place in your heart to adopt an adult cat or dog who needs a second chance? Or a bonded pair? Come visit us Saturday or Sunday from 1 - 4pm for adoption hours to meet some wonderful pets just waiting to shower you with their love and appreciation.

We are SO excited that our Gracie girl found the most incredible forever home!

Gracie came to us as a stray alongside Raven (who we posted about a few days ago) with stitches up and down her front legs. She was scared, anxious, and we knew she needed so much love and attention.

Gracie spent over 250 days with us. Within those 250 days, she'd gone into foster homes and with adopters but was returned for various reasons. Each one of these homes taught us something new about her like she's got separation anxiety, she really like to attach to one person in the home, she can scale fences, but most of all-she's a lovebug.

Insert Jesus and Dora. It was love at first sight for them and Gracie. When we went down the list of the behaviors other homes saw, they continually said "it's okay, we'll work through it with her". The issue was their new home wouldn't be ready for about 4ish weeks but we knew it was a perfect match. They came 2-3 times a week to continue bonding with her through walks and weekend sleepovers. Jesus and Dora took Gracie home for the final time on Christmas day, and we were all pretty emotional about it!

Gracie is the perfect example of how we are more than a shelter but also what teamwork can accomplish for a dog deserving a second, or third, or fourth chance. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication from Jesus and Dora and we are so ecstatic that Gracie has moved on from kennel life no matter how much we loved her

Recently-adopted, Hal, says Merry Christmas to everyone from his new home! He wishes all of his buddies at the shelter were home for the holidays, too. Please come and visit the animals at the shelter who are looking for new homes. Adoption hours are this Saturday and Sunday between 1 and 4pm. Hal says you need a new pet in your life for 2025! ❤️

Sweet mama Snickers came to us as a stray with two of her babies last week and now she’s spending Christmas alone in a kennel 😢

Her babies were old enough to be separated from her and truthfully, she was kind of over them. They’ve since found foster homes but as always, mamas take a little longer to find their happily ever after.

Snickers is a sweetie! She loves attention from whoever will give it to her and while she may have been over motherhood, we think the heartbreak from being alone is hitting her 💔 right now, we’d love to find a petless home for her to get some good decompression time and learn more about her. Can someone pls come break her out of here?!

We think she’s be okay with kids, she’s shown nothing but love so far. She seems to be housebroken and maybe even crate trained because she goes right into her kennel. Please share far and wide and let’s get her feeling better! ❤️ (her bio on our website is in the works)

Raven had to read the list twice....and we're not talking about naughty or nice, we're talking the dogs that went home with fosters/adopters because she wasn't on it!

Raven is one of our long term dogs. She came in 4/18/24 which means she's been with us for 248 days with little to no interest. When she came to us, she had little scars all over her face and her body told us she'd had a few litters. This sweet face has been through a lot in the first few years of her life but she doesn't let that get her down. She loves people, her favorite thing is a warm blanket, and we think she deserves nothing but the best for the rest of her life. To say she lived in chaos before coming to us is an understatement. Raven displays anxiety in homes but we think she just needs someone who can help her work through that. Can you give Raven a holiday miracle this season? We will be there to help as much as we can with support. Let's show this girl that she's loved and worth it 💕

Freddy was very unimpressed by the weather this morning and can’t believe we would ever ask him to potty outside under these conditions! He is asking that swift action be taken against his walker and nothing short of getting adopted and never having to deal with the audacity will do!

Come adopt Bear…..a literal bear…..a 90 lb puppy….the perfect mix of neck folds and stinky breath….what’s not to love?!

This giant boy thinks he’s basically elf on the shelf and will try to convince you of that by sitting with his entire b***y on your lap like he’s a tiny chihuahua and we love that about him ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

3.5 years ago we took in 42 cats from a hoarder house after a fire at the residence. We named them after Baskin Robbins Ice Cream flavors and they became known collectively as the Ice Cream Cats. Most of them were adopted over the next few months but about a dozen of them were under socialized and while they never minded the consistent food and clean living space, they preferred their space so obviously it has taken longer to find them new homes. When we moved to the new facility in October there were still 4 Ice Cream cats with us. We were delighted when Rum Raisin was the very first animal to be adopted from our new building. We took this as a good omen!

Yesterday, a pair of heroes came through our doors. This mother and daughter duo were looking for a bonded pair and were happy to take a couple of cats that might be harder to place. They gravitated toward the Ice Cream cats and when they heard their story and that there were only three left they couldn't imagine just taking two and leaving one sole survivor alone. SO THEY TOOK ALL THREE!!! After 3.5 years with us Rock n Pop Swirl, World Class Chocolate and Mama's Makin' Cookies are finally home ❤️❤️❤️❤️

We like to say we are More Than a Shelter and we think we've earned the title. We never gave up hope that all of these cats would find heroes and we committed to let them stay in our care for as long as it took. The shelter isn't going to be the same without them, but we’re so happy they got the second chance they needed and deserves! ❤️

‼️Attention everyone: Cuteness overload‼️
Ori and Nori are looking for their hero. They are in urgent need of a home where they can relax and be their true fun-loving selves. Please don't swipe past this lovely pair of sweet kittens!

This is a very special pair of bonded girls who have a whole lotta love and playfulness in their hearts. They aren't even a year old, but have experienced a lot in their little lives already. They survived a difficult kittenhood and while they are healthy now, Ori has some ongoing health compromises, which means she needs to be on medication and needs to be carefully monitored. Despite these concerns, she is the sweetest, most playful lovebug you ever could meet. She and her sister are bonded and need a home together with no other cats.

If you can be their hero, they will give you hours of joy and fun and you will be helping to give them the safe space they need to thrive! Shelter life is stressful for them and they urgently need to be in a home where they can relax and be healthy.
